Jack is a good player - for about the first 10 games this season statistically one of the best midfielders in the league.  He’s leveled off since then and that’s probably closer to his sustainable level but nevertheless a creative force who presses and works hard defensively too.

What he’s not is a true winger.  If we were to sign him (which I doubt) and I can only imagine it’s as a Maddison replacement, because they’re similar sorts of players.  Harrison, like Maddison, can play wide (though not on the “wing”, truthfully) but IMO is at his best more centrally - a recessed winger, more or less.  Also played more on the left than right, though equally effective on either side.

35 million is too much, but the reason Leeds is looking to sell is they’re apparently moving on Weston McKennie.  If that doesn’t happen they’ll probably stick with Harrison.

Surely Bielsa goes to Everton and this is who they spend the Anthony Gordon money on?

He supposedly turned Everton down flat, and I don't blame him.  Dumpster fire.

I reckon that's what we see in both him and Gonzalez personally.

Tete’s are decent as well

I actually quite like Jack Harrison.

But given he’s a first team regular and we’re relegation rivals there’s no way Leeds loan him to us, or sell him to us at a decent price.

However, with a year left on his contract in the summer, he could be a good option at a knock down price who can cover both wings.

It's also we signed Perez. We want to play a pressing game where we force the opposition back into their own half. Harrison's stats are good in this department because that's how Bielsa and Marsch play. Arsenal signed Trossard for the same reason.

So all the players we are being linked to have that high workrate and willingness to press.

Yeh same, so open down that left wing against better sides.

I'm not against this signing as long as it's not instead of a true RW. But certainly not for £35m.

Tete & Harrison for 35m would be a deal I'd be happy with. Not too unrealistic imo

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.

£35m spent on this idiot would be a proper Rodgers signing.

This is why its happening to keep him happy. He loves spending big money on an average Premier League players with no resale value.

The last 26 year old we spent over 30 million on to be a winger is leaving on a free either this week or at the end of the season. We are a horrifically run club at the minute.

There does actually seem to be a potential theme when looking at certain stats.

Perez, Albrighton & Harrison average 7-8 defensive duels per 90. Last season Lookman averaged the same. Tete not as many, but compared to other Ligue 1 wingers he ranks quite high.

So high defensive work from a right sided player does seem to be a key element in what we look for.

I find it weird we are after this type of player when we’ve played a pressing game barely more than a handful of times over the past 2 years.
