This is fair but if we're talking recent history, last 20 odd years or so, they're not wrong. People act like it's a crime to go places like Burnley and Huddersfield and sing PL champions you'll never sing that. Its not always factually accurate, tjey might have won it back in 1893 kicking a pigs bladder around, but who really cares if nobody at the ground was alive to see it.

It's something we can lord over other teams, it's just a bit of banter who really cares.

Exactly this, who cares, I can't believe some in here getting over excited about it, personally on match day I dont like  anything, that isnt Leicester City, including Spurs, come Sunday, I wont give a hoot, let's enjoy our fairly recent successes, and there not so recent ones.

Yes just not in the last 30 years.

The main reason I dislike spurs is because I know quite a few spurs fans and its fun to have a bit of a rivalry but it hoes no further than that

Will you forget about our title win in 2046?

As someone who loves history I can't agree with this. What next? Deleting England won World Cup because it was getting on for 60 years ago. Burnley a very small town won the League in 1960. Huddersfield won the League 3 years running although back in the 20s. I love to celebrate our recent success but no need to deny other clubs past. As for Spurs they are on a barren period of 15 years without a proper title but they have a proud history. To acknowledge this does not dismiss how well we have done. We had only won one League Cup In 1964 until we won it again in 97. Our fans still loved the club despite this

Of course not but if we don't win anything else until then I'm not sure we would still be claiming that we were a more successful club.

Fair point, that's a good reason to hate any team! I've always found talking to any Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea fan about football is a lost cause, particularly the actual Cockerknee ones, they're so tribal 24/7 can't ever let their guard down.

Also goes back to our title winning season... Spurs fans were so gobby and arrogant about how they were going to easily catch us and win the title!!...

After we'd finished 11 points clear of them and won the title by 10 points, the twats wouldn't congratulate us for our amazing achievement!!... haven't forgot that and Harry Kanes Instagram showing the lions that were 'coming for us '!!...😂... deluded, entitled twats.😂

So they don’t count because they happened before 1990?

I don’t for one second think we’ve turned a corner or proclaim we’re back despite the Villa game, we’ve seen short spells of the positive, attacking, exciting football we saw last weekend in the past. I do, unfortunately, think Rodgers’ way will be back, hopefully not but I generally see no reason or evidence to suggest otherwise - the new signings? Maybe, the catalyst for change :dunno: :fc:

However, I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow, in the first time for a long time, genuinely can’t remember the last time this could be said.

Haha..how a club that has won nothing since Methuselah was a lad can look down on a perceived (and it is only perceived) lesser club is so comical.

But then of the so called big 6 this lot are pretty unique as winning nothing and thats quite unlikely to change anytime soon.

Humans always need to think of themselves as better than someone!

Because a club is demonstrably “bigger” than us, doesn’t mean they are necessarily huge. Spurs have only won 2 top league titles (same as Portsmouth). For comparison, Huddersfield Town have won 3. What spurs do have is an excellent PR department!!!!!

I lived on White Hart Lane for several years.  When it comes to the stature of their club, they are delusional. One spurs fan I lived with genuinely believed they were the ‘English’ Real Madrid. He was such a dick. He also scarpered without paying his rent/bills….

I stormed out the room damaging the living room wall at the equaliser.

I went to the loo when my my wife called, Spurs have just scored. "I know", I shouted back. "No, again", she said.

"Nah" I said, "They're just showing a replay"

"I don't think that they are", she accurately replied

I was in to the last couple of days of a very pleasant holiday in the Ribble Valley.  A nice bottle or two of wine had been consumed that night with a rather delicious steak dinner.

The end of this match put me into a foul mood for the rest of the night, despite my best efforts not to let it.

For that reason alone I am absolutely desperate for a bit of revenge. Ribble ruining reprobates!

I think we are going to beat them, they have put in some dire performances this season and have got some results that those performances haven't warranted.

Spurs have a grand history. You open yourself up to looking a bit of silly sausage when trying to poke fun at their trophy cabinet.

Yep, as do Derby, Sunderland, Huddersfield and Wednesday, difference being their fans are nothing like as mouthy, deluded and privileged as Spurs fans.

Most clubs have a ‘grand’ history. If you intend to put a club’s history into some sort of hierarchy, you need a quantifiable criteria. Apart from stadium capacity/attendance, I’m not sure how Spurs could be placed in the higher echelons.

That's not what I said...

They were a very successful team 30 or 40 years ago that will always be there. However they haven't won anything in 30 years they are not currently a successful team.

We have had a very successful 7 - 8 years. If we don't win anything in the next ten we won't be successful anymore.

It dosent erase what we did in the past but you can't live off past glories forever

They do have 8 FA cup wins and success in Europe to their credit. I live in area with lots of Spurs and Arsenal fans. Most are very sensible apart from the animosity to each other.

I'm all for giving Spurs grief about ballsing up their recent chances to win trophies but have a word if you're gonna seriously claim they've no history to them. Such an awful modern football way of thinking.

League Cup wins in 1999 and 2008. I don't want to forget our wins in 1997 and 2000 for comparison

Vardy definitely seems like he's past it now tbf. Came on against a tired Villa side and can't remember him doing anything of note especially against the high line but definitely deserves to stay as long as he wants getting paid.
