Unless a great option crops up, which is unlikely, we have to go for someone until the end of the season, even if it’s Sadler/Stowell.

The pool of available managers right now is full of absolute dross, that may get enough of a reaction to stay up, but will ultimately not be the right manager to lead our rebuild next season.

If we go with pragmatism, like Benetiz, then it HAS to be only for the next couple of months. We can’t afford a repeat of Shakespeare.

Stowell !!! Are you mad? you wouldn’t want him in your pub quiz team never mind managing the club

I would personally like us to take a risk on Carrick.

Obviously you can't just paint everyone with the same brush, but recently retired Premier League midfielders aren't proving to be great appointments.

Get the feeling the position they played combined with the desire to be a 'modern coach' lends itself to slow, death-by-passing football. Absolute opposite of what we need right now.

We have to have a stop gap until the end of the season with the clear understanding that they leave in the summer. If we can stay up then we bring in a manager with a higher profile for a Prem rebuild. If we drop then we can bring in a lower profile manager with the remit of steadying the ship and trying to get us back up. Either way I am more confident we will succeed now that Rodger’s has gone.

It’s 10 games. All we need is a reaction and some fight putting into this side.

Don't disagree but it's a chance to build something what with the expected play turnover in the summer

It would be a hard sell.I don’t think the club will be handing out ten million quid contracts again anytime soon.So not even a financial temptation.
We are no longer in a position to rock up to clubs in better positions than us and demand their manager.

Shows they have no clue

Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given on Sky Sports: "I feel for Brendan. Last two years he has not been backed by the owners and that is not Brendan's problem. He got the rug pulled from under his feet, He is a top manager and will get another top job. Shows the stakes are getting higher and higher."

Hey Shay, should Brendan be making the players he has got better AND get them to play for the badge????

Pochettino (if we stay up) - Not saying he would take it but can definitely see the board offering him the job , maybe he would like to rebuild his career. That would excite me but probably not that likely.

Potters 2 teams now have struggled to score goals. If he can't make a team like Chelsea score goals, I've little faith in him being of any use to us.

At Brighton despite struggling to score goals they always had a high xG and created a lot of chances but didn't take them. Traditionally we've been the opposite and outperformed our xG largely in part with us having Vardy who scored more than would be expected given the opportunities. So you'd have to weigh up whether you think that's down to him or just a lack of quality up front. Chelsea have also had problems sorting their strike options out, before his arrival. Though you'd have expected him to sort that out by now. But with their player turnover he's basically doing Coopers job further up the table.

Probably backed the Bruce sacking despite them being bottom half dross most of the last decade

Pearson it is then, another legendary rebuild.

Apart from the highest net spend window in our history where we lost no key players?

I know these ex-players know piss all but Shay, mate, don't say it out loud.

Yeah, Potter didn't have a very good striker either at Brighton or Chelsea. Incredible at the latter how they managed to get themselves into that situation having spent so much.

Blimey! That barrel really is being scrapped. In truth I’d take this as an opportunity of offloading him too

Knowing the league is incredibly overrated, especially a league as global as the Premier League.

I totally get what you mean. I just think with us being in a precarious position now & maybe next season, I’d like to see someone with past experience of this league.
I’m probably a bit old school !

Didn't he get us the win against Brighton in 2019? Before Rogers took over. They can probably get something done by Saturday but id be surprised if Stowell doesn't at least get the Villa game.

Rodgers going and them giving it Benitez would be like escaping Fritzl's basement and knocking on Mick Philpott's door.
