Based on our run of 4 wins;

Wolves (W)

Leeds (W)

Everton (W)

Fulham (W)

Liverpool (D)

Newcastle (D)

West Ham (W)

And the other teams continuing with their inconsistent form.

I was being kind to Everton too, which just goes to show how tight it really is. But highlights a few wins could save us.

Give me one positive with this team over the last year.

That time has gone and is irreversible.  This thread is looking at the future, as any fan of the club should be doing.

There were a few positives today - the return and performance of Soy, the chances we created and would have scored from on another day, the aggressiveness that was shown later on in the game, and the attempts to move the ball forwards faster.

Still need to work on our sharpness in tackling (rather than holding off from our opponent), more consistent aggression and team pressing, moving up more quickly to better support our attack ...    for starters.  I'm fairly confident our new management will improve all of these but the timescale is tight.

I love how late Saturday night posts full of jolly drunks - keep going boys! We’re staying up and we’re gonna win the league next season

I like how late Saturday night readers can’t read. This is nothing about false hope, it is simply about encouraging the lads in every way so we can achieve what we want. But it is very helpful to have lots of na sayers making sure the players know that we don’t believe in them. Alright Debbie Downer. The end of the world is nigh.

I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear but I am one of these jolly drunks - we’ve won the league from more improbable circumstances. And with the FA cup, I can die happy. I will always get behind the boys

Sorry mate, I thought it was sarcasm. Clearly not. More of this encouragement for the boys. Thanks.

My dad was pretty positive after that second half, I myself saw noth8ng different tbh. We have the ability to score goals if we’re positive, work hard with movement on and off the ball, but there were players today that just looked like they couldn’t be bothered, the second half was odd because we didn’t look like we wanted to press to win the ball and take the game to the opposition, even when there was a chance of getting something

I think James Maddison has been really impressive. In what must have been incredibly frustrating times. Consistently performs at a high level, isn’t deterred by the mentality and ability of some of the players around him, genuinely gives a shit on the rare occasion that he costs us, won’t begrudge him his move at all (awful choice of friends though).

Don’t blame Ricardo, Justin or Harvey at all either.

That’s all I’ve got.

Ok I’ll give it a go before the lights go out over here on this side of the pond.

look here players/lads/team. We understand this season has not turned out the way we wanted and no one liked it most of all us fans. We are cheering you guys on we really are but help us to help you.

/md half today was much better had we taken those golden chances he’ll we could have won 4-3 imagine that! Those are the fine margins. When the opportunity comes along take them! Today no one gave you a chance but it almost could have been different. So bring that positivity and fight multiply it by 10 and take it into the next games. You can do it if you believe & care

As supporters, we can choose to support or we can choose to put the boot in and feel sorry for ourselves.

The team might be having a terrible season, but those wishing to find a silver lining are not to blame for that. And it doesn't make you a superior fan because you find multiple ways to slag your own team off and wallow in self-pity.

The players just gave to find a way to win the next 4 games, then then can all fcuk off at the end of the season as far as I'm concerned.

The need to find culprits is one of the worse things about this forum. The blame game is written into some posters DNA. Rodgers is gone , so let's find somebody else , well it ain't going to help at all. Smith will quickly notice out of form players and do what he can to get them to their proper level.  Its form , not ability that is the problem. Leave it up to him.

For those struggling with the concept of this thread, avoid posts of the following nature

Bore of the day

Abuse etc etc…..moan, moan…..we’re finished as a club etc…..Rodgers was a (more personal abuse)…the lot of them can (go to somewhere unpleasant best described with multiple expletives)…..nothing has changed etc etc.

There are plenty of other threads where you can wallow in misery, personal abuse and bile while offering nothing constructive yourself but not on this one please.

Can this thread not actually create a healthy debate though?

Calling out professional footballers for underperforming is hardly wallowing in misery surely?

Love the positivity and think we can avoid the drop. Winning the league next season, with this squad?  Think the bookies would be safe offering 50,000 / 1

My lad reminded me what happened last time we were in a precarious position in 14/15 what happened the following year, but then said can’t see us winning the title next season Dad !

At the final whistle most of the travelling fans applauded the players who responded in kind. Some of them were reluctant to come towards us but that’s not really surprising after recent performances.
So they must have taken something positive out of that and the manager was fairly upbeat afterwards.

Ndidi bottling the challenge for their third goal was a shocker though!

That is legitimate , however dismissing players as simply not good enough is shortsighted and often proven to be rubbish. We have a lot of out of form players that is true but on form they are plenty good enough.

If I go in to the baseball thread I don't start posting about hockey. It's not really been a healthy debate, just people taking the mick. It's fairly clear what the thread is for, there's plenty of other threads to call out professional footballers for underperforming too.

I have faith in the players, all along. With Rodgers gone and the shackles off, do what you are best at, play and win. No need to hold back. If there is an opportunity even if it may result in losing the ball, go for it. Don't over think it, just do.

Positives:

- Rodgers has gone

- We have a new and balanced management team in place who look like they care

- Iversen is playing much better than Ward did

- Soyuncu is back in the side

- The second half against Man City was good, we created chances and didn't get thrashed there like other teams have been this season

- We are only two points adrift and our goal difference is better than the teams around us

- We have games against Wolves  Leeds, Everton and West Ham in our run in.   Three of these games are at home.

- We are also playing Fulham, who have lost their last six matches

Do you not understand encouraging people to improve. Yeah let’s just tell them they are crap and then complain when they fail.

I didn’t say that we should compliment what has happened this season or we should accept this position, I said encourage.

Don’t be that guy.

Could I encourage you to eat your own shit?

If you're crap, you're crap. No matter what. I've been in situations where I've had to slate people for being crap. They didn't stop being crap. If I'd put an arm around them and said "you'll be fine, just try a bit harder, do more work on getting your role right and we'll see where we are in 3 months". They were still crap 3 months on.

Some took it on board and tried and succeeded. Many didn't because they could be bothered.

There's a saying that "you catch more bees than flies with honey" meaning, be sweet and nice and you'll get results. False
