Ipswich may be 'lucky' but they create their own luck by attacking quickly and shooting when the chance comes leading to defences being out of shape and deflections likely.

If we shot more we might get more deflections... Crazy idea

Plus being able to make 3 or 4 attacking subs a game with energy and pace, how many late goals have Sarmiento and Hutchinson got whereas our go to disasterclass subs are McAteer and Hamza

We may draw one. I don't see us winning any of the next 3. Much better sides than boro or qpr.

Sunderland are in worse form that both.

In this league, it doesn't matter what you 'think'. QPR and Borough ended up being very clinical and parked the bus successfully.  Many have come to the KP and haven't been able to do that, and I wouldn't bet on QPR being able to do the same if we played again tomorrow.

If that was Ipswich playing QPR and pulled it back to 2-1 like we did they 100% go on to at least draw that game. Not once did I think we’ve got a chance here.

Just a pathetic mentality about the club for years now. I suppose at least the beauty of it is it’s in our hands.

When was the last time we came from 2 goals down to get a point?

Yet I can think of a couple of occasions where we’ve given away a 2 goal lead in the past 2/3 of seasons.

We are so predictable, as soon as Leeds scored their first goal you knew we were gonna lose.

It’s half the reason the stadium empties at 2-0 down at home games, everyone knows it’s already game over, pointless staying for the remaining 40 minutes.

QPR and M’Boro have both been exactly like this, and it’ll be the same the next time we go 2-0 down at home, we’ll pull 1 back and that’s it.

I couldn’t watch the Leeds game but got the notification for 1-1 and then just refreshed my phone waiting for 2-1 you know now we will just collapse. Serious problem.

Nope, it doesn't matter. I've been on here a while, not just since our win yesterday. I'm interested in what other supporters are talking about.

"Can you just be happy about that?" - as in, can I just go away and not correct you with facts?

Sounds very much like you're the one being defensive and is very insecure.

No, we're not nailed on for anything. Honestly, the doom and gloom on here. I've even seen one of your supporters saying he's throwing his ST away. Whilst top!

You've had a blip but you're still in the driving seat and have a much better squad than ours, sprinkled with Prem players. You'll be fine.

Not at all, it’s good having other fans on here. But if you are worrying about what others are saying, you risk missing enjoying your success when it comes. Like us back in 2015/16, rather than worry about what Spurs/Arsenal fans etc were saying, we just let our team rub it in their faces. And no insecurity here, I don’t bother with what others are saying about us. And I’m realistic enough to know we are currently in the process of throwing our season so far away.

I would very much rather be in both Leeds and Ipswich position right now. This is exactly what has happened numerous times in the past few years. The gap decreases and decreases until it’s gone. Exactly the same is happening again, so unless you’re worried about Southampton, don’t worry, your top 2 finish is secure. You won’t realise it now but it is!

Haha. We haven't regularly had deflections throughout the season, we've had 2 or 3, and the reason you get deflections that go in is by shooting towards goal. Whether they go in cleanly or deflected doesn't matter - if you keep shooting it isn't just luck.

I could also tell you loads of occasions where we've lost points due to being unlucky. You don't watch our games so you will have missed those.

We're into March now, only 3 points behind you, and have only lost 4 games all season. That's an extraordinary amount of luck!

2 or 3!! You are joking I hope. Not saying you don't deserve to be where you are as you have been outstanding all season (just not as outstanding as us which is why we are top and 3 points plus mega goal difference clear) There is no denying that you have had your fair share of lucky deflections however and that will even itself out over-the-counter full season. I do wish you well though as I would love both Ipswich and ourselves to go up.

I can check what other fans are saying (I'm not "worrying" about it) AND enjoy our success. Dunno about you, but there's room for both in my head!

Points in the bag are always better than imaginary future points, but I do understand why you're worried.

I'm not worried about us, we've already had an amazing season whatever happens. We're just up from League 1 and up against 3 teams just down from the Prem, so I'm just being realistic.

There's 11 games and lots of twists and turns to go, there's no way anyone's position is "secure"!

I'm sure one decent performance/win and your confidence will come flooding back.

I'm not joking. Feel free to list the 4 lucky deflections we've had, I can't think of 4 (Morsy's against you only counts as one they were part of the same shot!)

You’re not lucky in the slightest.

You don’t accept defeat and keep going and ultimately that’s why you’re not fading away.

You’ll finish in the top two I think, what’s up for debate is who will join you and where is the title going.

I can confidently say we’re ****ed now, it’s just a repeat of the pattern we’ve seen over the last 4 years, the body language from the players and the inflexibility of our inexperienced manager is going to kill us.

Ipswich have annoyed me, I’m not going to lie, but that’s because you’re good, like I said you don’t give up, you pile on pressure right until the end and even when you’re behind there’s a strong chance you’ll get at least a point.

Put it this way, you wouldn’t have lost yesterdays game, we’re showing all the wrong traits to be successful now, you are showing all the right ones.

Enjoy it, I’m certain you’ll be a premier league team next season.

i dont see what the massive uproar is, imo we arent as bad as we was under Rodgers during some parts of his reign here

guess we should just hoof to ball up and hope for the best

also you have to admit the officials in the last 3 league game have been awful, like truly bad, decisions having a massive impact on the game; if they actually got those decisions right we'd be looking at at least a couple of wins more imo

Form is unsurprisingly a far better indication than the table, explains QPRs momentum coming into yesterday, if not our own feckless malaise

I do have the ability myself to think two different things but thank you for your obvious concern…

Clearly it bothers you or we wouldn’t be having this tedious conversation but you’re not going to admit that so forget it!

Points in the bag mean nothing now it has become so close. It is about momentum, will to want it and hard work. You and Leeds have this in spades which is why there’s little doubt in my mind you will be the top 2. Of course it’s not secure yet but I’m extremely sure this will be the case after 46 games unfortunately for us.

Anyway, yourself and other Ipswich fans on here seem to miss the fact most of us have wished you well and been impressed with you throughout the season, keeping pace with 3 relegated sides as you say. It’s extremely impressive. Thats why it’s a shame you seem to pick up on the comments about good fortune and ignore all the positive comments made. People make comments in the heat of the moment. That one you originally quoted off me was when I was frustrated that Leeds had benefited from a moment of stupidity from Hogg for Huddersfield. You’ve probably also had your two luckiest games against us so it’s only natural people make generalisations from a small sample size that they see! That was why I said in the first place just to chill and not take it to heart!

I haven't missed the positive comments, but there's not really anything for me to add to them is there?

Erm, "thanks"?!

I've been reading these pages for a while and there are reams and reams of 'Ipswich are lucky' comments, and not "all in the heat of the moment."

"Points in the bag mean nothing..." haha, what?! You're disagreeing with every manager ever!

But anyway, I'll leave it there. You're clearly "in the heat of the moment" still now.

I was speaking for myself and the comment you picked up on. I was in the heat of the moment. I was not speaking for others. And I’m not in the heat of the moment now, you’re just being extremely argumentative.

On the points in the bag thing, did you even bother reading what I said? I said means nothing now it’s so close. The momentum you have vs is is worth a hell of a lot more than 3 points we are still ahead. Make sense?

People here are weird. “We definitely lose the next one.”  “We’re going to lose the next 3.”  “We’re going to lose every match til the end of the season and a massive hole is going to open up in the East Midlands and swallow the ground, the team and the whole city.”

While these things are possible (well maybe not that last), they are by no means likely, and are in fact unlikely. We as fans are in danger of emotionally-directed reasoning. Just take a look at eg bookies’ odds for an emotion-free assessment of the chances of eg losing on Tuesday, by people whose job it is to get it right*.  Sunderland are 7/2 on my app to win. We are 3/4. That’s a 4 and a bit fold differential in our favour.  So yes of course we could lose, but it’s not considered very likely that we will, and much more likely that we’ll win.

* I am aware that bookies’ odds also take into account the sentiment of their punters, as judged by the amounts staked on each result - however if that has meant the posted odds on us winning are shorter than ‘reality’ that just means that a lot of people out there (the majority of whom presumably have no emotional investment in the result) also think we are most likely to win.

Have a word with yourself! We're not top of the league by chance, we are the best team in the league up to this point in time. There's 11 to go and bar one disappointing performance against QPR yesterday we have been outstanding. We outplayed both Leeds and Middlesbrough and were by far the better team in both games. Ipswich had a blip and have bounced back and we are already in a far better position than they are with 11 to go. Tell me any team in the league who wouldn't rather be in our current position - none. Just get behind the team for the run in rather than slagging them off to a rival who has randomly checked into a LCFC forum.
