He didn’t have a bench that cost about £5bn

Relative to the rest of the Championship he had a pretty expensive bench but yeah I take your point about the money at Chelsea.

Ranieri in talks to come out of retirement to take caretaker charge of Roma'

Roma are working on a deal to appoint ex-Leicester and Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri as their new caretaker manager until the end of the season, according to The Athletic.

The 73-year-old is reportedly in talks to come out of retirement and take charge of the Serie A side on a caretaker basis after Roma sacked Ivan Juric on Sunday.

If a deal can be completed, it would be the Italian's third stint in charge of Roma and see him add to his 37 years of managerial experience.

Ranieri, who famously led Leicester to Premier League glory in 2016, retired from club management at the end of last season after helping Cagliari to Serie A safety.

If he returns to Roma then he will be taking over a side who are 12th in Serie A, with their next fixture at league leaders Napoli on November 24.

We are running out of time to honor this great man while he's still around. The statue can always be moved post expansion. Let's do the right thing Top

Still can't believe that the 2015/2016 season happened.

Even the FA Cup trophy triumph wasn't a match to what unfolded in that season (sorry), to be honest.

With Vichai not around anymore, and the club in not the best state for a while currently (despite being back in the PL), it was just unbelievable really.

Sven-Göran Eriksson, England’s first overseas manager, died with debts of over £3.8m after years of financial mismanagement.

Eriksson, who died in August 2024 at the age of 76 having earlier announced that he was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer, left assets worth £4.8m but owed £8.64m. Most of Eriksson’s debts were tax related in the UK, owing £7.25m to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), according to Swedish media reports.

Eriksson, who managed England between 2001 and 2006, leading the national team to the quarter-finals of three major international tournaments, had previously spoken of losing £10m to a financial adviser and admitted that he had no idea how much money he had or where it was.

not got a chance to watch it all yet but i don't see leicester mentioned as one of the sections. shitey villa are.

Doesn't really talk much about Leicester which is a shame. His spell at Villa seems to be more prominent, even though he won more with us! Obviously Celtic is his big one, and the Keane connection too.

I could listen to MON for hours - he's got that whit and charisma that is often lacking in podcasts etc nowadays.

If anyone wants to cheer themselves up a bit, get on to the Shed End and read the match thread. Apparently Maresca is no longer the Messiah and is being compared to a Skoda and a Lada.

The way it is going for him ATM, he may well be in the need for a job in the summer. Would you take him back?

100% if he'd come back but let's be honest, he's above us now.

Steve Cooper lands UEFA job
Steve Cooper has been out of work since the end of November and has been linked with a number of Championship jobs in recent weeks.

Cooper was linked with the Middlesbrough job last month, with Michael Carrick coming under a lot of pressure after a poor run of form.

However, his new job isn’t actually in management. Cooper has just completed his first game in his new role as a UEFA Technical Observer.

The former City boss was in attendance at Feyenoord’s home tie against Inter Milan in the knockouts of the Champions League.

What is a UEFA Technical Observer?
A technical observer monitors football games in depth with the use of statistics and video assistance to enable them to deliver detailed reports on the latest developments in coaching.

Their reports are then used among the coaching community and they’re often asked to give their opinions on the Man of the Match which can be published by UEFA.

Last year, at the Euros, the likes of Fabio Capello, Martin O’Neil and Rafael Benitez were hired as technical observers and their opinions were used to help select things like the Team of the Tournament.

A painful reminder of what we could still have. The man oozes a mentality that has rapidly vanished at lcfc. I can see him managing here one day. I hope so, anyway.

Not sure Danny Ward will be on this in 5 years...

Ex-Leicester City boss hailed as 'exceptional leader' after landing new MLS contract
Dean Smith left the Foxes in 2023 but has since rebuilt his reputation in the MLS with Charlotte FC

Dean Smith, the former Aston Villa and Leicester City manager, has been awarded a new contract for his impressive performance at Major League Soccer (MLS) club Charlotte.

The 54 year old has signed an extension that will keep him at the North Carolina-based team until the 2027 MLS season.

Smith, who led Villa back to the Premier League, joined Charlotte in December 2023, following a stint with Leicester City that ended in relegation from the top flight.

Smith arrived at the King Power Stadium in April 2023 after Brendan Rodgers left the club with eight games to go and the team second bottom of the division. His nine points were not enough to avoid the drop.

However, his tenure at Charlotte has been marked by success.

In his first season, he guided the team to their highest-ever points total (51), their first playoff win, and the league's second-best defensive record. This season, they've had their best start ever and remain unbeaten at home.

Club owner David Tepper praised Smith's leadership, saying: "Dean has been an exceptional leader for Charlotte FC and we are excited for him to sign a new contract," He added, "The club's success over the past year is a reflection of his dedication and commitment to excellence both on and off the pitch. We look forward to what the future holds with Dean leading the way."

Reacting to the new contract, Smith said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed being the head coach of Charlotte FC and I'm honoured to sign a new contract with the club," as reported on the club's website. He added, "Everyone at the club is aligned in our vision to be a leader in Major League Soccer.", reports Birmingham Live.

"To our supporters, you have made our family feel welcome in this city and for that we're grateful to each one of you. We will work together with the aim of consistently challenging for major trophies every season."

I like Smith and to be honest he has had a decent career in this country. Shouldn't be managing over there.

Probably having an amazing time though, grown up family etc so probably the best time to do it!

I'm sure he'll be back one day. Got Fuchs as his AM at the minute too.

Looking at our managerial records this season, 9 points from 8 games would be lovely lol

Whenever a supporter of another club knocks us by saying we shouldn’t have sacked Cooper, the obvious answer should be “which Premier League club will now take a chance on hiring him?” I don’t think he was terribly bad as manager, but his influence on the transfer dealings was very harmful.

Rodgers has Spurs written through him like a stick of rock..

He really suffers from the fact he'll never be the most popular manager at his various clubs. O'Neill, Postecoglou, Ranieri, Klopp and Slot all far more revered in the last 20-odd years.
