It also means that it's more than the often quoted 25 matches seeing as he's already played 21 (I think).

It was reported as 60% of matches which would be 27 or 28 (depending on rounding) if it’s league only.  30 if it includes cups (more if we progress).

He didn’t actually join until after 4 games had already been played so it would be 60% of 42 league games - so 25 or 26 (again depending on rounding)

Good point.  27 is the number that is usually quoted so either others had forgotten that he didn’t sign until late or it does include cups.

Either way, barring a serious injury it’s not going to be an issue.

So based on that, missing a few matches to AFCON wouldn't have made much difference. It doesn't appear to be the reason that he made himself unavailable, if he actually did.

Looking at it from our perspective and on recent form no but if he got injured or someone else took his spot and did well then it might come into play.  He might not have wanted to take the risk.

My guess is he had an honest conversation with the Ghana coaching team about how much he was likely to play and if it would affect his chances in the future if he didn’t go.  Houghton seems like a decent guy so quite possibly told him to keep learning from Enzo, get a contract in the EPL and take it from there.

It’s all speculation of course but I am fairly confident Enzo will have had a word in his ear, he was the Master’s Apprentice after all.

Whether it’s true or not I don’t know but this actually makes a lot of sense

If true it would mean Abdul has stayed here to make sure he plays enough games so him loan automatically becomes permanent, I sign of commitment to the club which is good to see

La Liga:

Boubakary Soumare (not in squad - personal reasons) - Sevilla 0-2 Athletic Bilbao

Is Soumare getting regular game time with Sevilla? I don’t really follow the foreign leagues

I’d be interested to know whether he’s as bad as I think he is or whether he’s “doing a Vestergaard”

Including last night which he missed he has started 9 of their last 11 league games

Played the full 90 in 7 of them, 87 mins in 1, and then 45 minutes in the other 1

So definitely a starter for them

Only missed last night as he’s off to Napoli too I think

3 shots on target for Brighton. 2 goals. Stoke will be sending Iversen back.

Won’t be a problem, we’ve got loads of other they can try! This is basically Rudkin when someone contacts us about signing a keeper…

Went to watch Mansfield Vs Crewe today. Lewis Brunt unfortunately made a mistake for the Crewe goal, but a very good performance in all three positions he played in. He looks very assured on the ball, and seems to be operating at a different level with his reading of the game. Followed up his two recent MOTM performances with another decent display. Clough brought him in as backup for injuries, but he's forced his way in and is now first choice.
