I've seen several comments lavishing praise on Winks and suggesting he was at the centre of a much improved team performance yesterday. I saw a player doing the basics while not stretching himself, not creating anything of note, and not contributing anything special to what the team did. He made one tackle, and created two chances (by comparison Chowdhury made no tackles and created one chance in half the time). I saw Winks give a perfunctory performance against mediocre opponents who beat us comfortably and were content to sit on their lead. To his credit, he didn't make any costly mistakes, which I suppose qualifies him for massive commendation in our world. We set the bar very low these days.

I think the point you are missing is:

His "perfunctory" performance is better than the rest of em

Disappeared off straight down the tunnel at the end apparently rather than go over to the fans

Hope King picks up on that. Will be straight out of the squad

A well run club never signs him.

A moderately well run club gets rid of him last summer.

A poorly run club moves him on this January.

Only our abomination of a club would still have Winks involved at this point.

I’m guessing it’s a PSR thing where if we sell at a loss it’s goes against us massively so better to run down contract , same with Daka.
Madness but I think that’s the way it works.

You forget, no one is dumb enough to want to sign him which also needs to happen.

Especially on 80k a week…

Which makes it all the more astounding that people were seriously, against the full weight of statistical evidence, arguing that we're better with him in the side. Some really good posters made themselves look quite thick with those remarks. And they'll age as well as those who denounced Cooper (as wrong for the job as he always was) for not playing Alves and Pereira, for being from Forest, for being ugly, for the same poor recruitment which has blighted his predecessors and successors, and for only being 16th in the table. Higher when the likes of Harry Winks decided they couldn't be arsed to play for him any more.

So you can take the point of view, as many did last week, that Winks has simply grown frustrated by a substandard manager. Then another. Then another one after that. Or you could draw the far more obvious conclusion that he's the epitome of the cultural problem at the club.

He’s a mardy ass but he does seem to actually try on the pitch

Other than against Sheff United at home…

He’s such a freckly little dosser isn’t he?

I know that he won’t care but when he doesn’t get a club in the summer, I will absolutely love it!!

He will get a club, he has talent, the other club will either manage it or he will be petulant.. but hes definitely getting a new club, and it wont be mid or bottom table team.

He truly is a proper conundrum

Letting him go for free would free up £1.6m in wages, which would offset his remaining book value.

But nobody wants him and he's not about to walk away from £80k per week to play for £40k/week.

Harry Winks went from being a regular in the Spurs side to being their “best player v Madrid” to the championship with us. His mentality, integrity, effort etc. has always been a problem. Like us, you don’t fall that far unless there is a genuine problem.

That’s not true, he came and clapped the fans. I was front row, soaked to the skin, pissed off but my eyes were fully functioning.

Did you give him middle finger, willy puller or just clap him?
