Can’t half imagine the reaction from some if the first goal happens with Ward in goal. A mistake he will learn from of course but another decent enough performance.

He made a save. I can't imagine ward making that albeit it's fairly regulation.

his wrist is too strong actually, hence it being pushed back out rather than tipping round, but I think you're nitpicking to blame Stolarcyk for the goal, he's done the right thing in tipping it wide and creating an awkward angle, and he's up quickly to force the shot, but is hung out to dry by the right side (JJ and Buonanotte) not anticipating a rebound.

I agree with you, JJ should have anticipated the rebound, cant allow a player of that quality that much space to essentially have a free hit.

probably should have pushed the first round the post but at the same time where the **** was the defence how was the winger the only player following in, its basic stuff

It was an error and Ward would have been burned at the stake for that - all being said apart from a cpl of dodgy kicks he was solid, and not really tested.

Happier when mads returns

Ward doesn't make the save to start with

Possibly but it wasn’t a spectacular save was it, either way my point stands.

Say it again, he was solid otherwise apart from that error.

I’m not even sure if the shot was on target? The whole situation could’ve been avoided one way or another that’s for sure.

That is the first mistake that has led to a goal I remember him making and bearing in mind he has just come back from a long term injury and been thrown in the deep end I think we can all give him the benefit of the doubt. This lad is going to the top but like all keepers he will make mistakes that cost goals, even Mads made errors last season, don’t compare with Ward he makes them every game.

I was right behind it, it was heading right in the bottom corner

the fact it wasn't a spectacular save and its still true Ward doesn't make it is the point of why Ward gets stick

Let's face it doesn't matter how we dress it up it was a goalkeeping howler that handed the initiative to Man City when they were looking totally void of any real ideas and you could see the confidence just draining away. It cost us the game and once again the conversation is all about poor keeping like it has been since Mads departed the pitch at half time against Newcastle.

he should have done better but its hardly a howler he pushed it 2-3 yards wide on a tight angle and was up quick, if the defence does its job their winger is at least being pressured rather than being given a free shot.

He'll learn from it, if he's still doing things like that in 12 months time after playing week in week out then its an issue

Its a shame Gary Neville was commentating because you could write what he knows about goalkeeping on a postage stamp.

Considering the lad has faced Liverpool and Man City in his first 2 Premier league starts I think hes done well.

He's a good keeper, but that was a mistake today.

It wasn't actually the parry that offended me, it was the way he reacted in the 1 on 1.

When you're closing the ball down in a 1 on 1 at the near post, you don't dive in the direction of the centre of the goal.

His torso, the biggest part of the body you can block with, was leant away from the angle rather than into the angle of the striker.

The biggest part of the goal at that angle is the front post, and all the striker had to do was lift it over his leg.

I think he just panicked after a bit of a soft parry. As I say I think he's a very good goalkeeper, and it is not a mistake that I'd expect from him.

Mistakes happen - it's still immediately obvious that he's worlds ahead of Danny Ward.

I totally agree with this It was really strange when he ended up 1 v 1 and totally lost his positioning showing too much of the near post and spreading himself the wrong way. That was more annoying to me than the crappy parry

Poor lad, he’s not ready for this level yet. He needs a loan spell or two to develop further. Throwing him to the wolves in top-tier football with this dreadful defence in front of him will do him no favours.

Actually feel like he has largely done himself proud. Would say Fulham was his weakest game but I don't feel like i am watching someone out of his depth at all.

Not been bad, but it definitely feels very obvious that Hermansen isn't in goal

To be fair to him I think he has done well.

He is unlucky in a way that we are all comparing him to Hermansen who in my opinion will go on to be one of the best keepers around for years to come.
