You’ve got Mads on this massive pedestal he doesn’t really deserve mate, unless you are Mads? Not many people said Stolarrcyk was better and those that did were just referencing the comparative form after Stolarcyck had a great game against Spurs and then was dropped and then Mads struggled until the end of the season and was sold. Mads is a good keeper but he also makes lots of mistakes, doesn’t command his box at corners (he stays rooted to his line) and isn’t even the best keeper in The Championship. Southampton’s Peretz is superior for a start.

I have backed Stolarcyk many times until I was unable to do it any more.

 

He was a highly regarded keeper and I thought he had potential to be a really good keeper.  Maybe I was wrong or maybe his confidence is completely shot or he has become infected by the malaise that infected the whole team last year.

 

Either way, I still think he is worth persevering with to try and reignite that potential.  Especially if the alternative is Alex McCarthy.

Never said Hermansen doesn't make mistakes, but continue to tell me I did, just regardless of how bad he's been at times, he's still miles better than the clowns currently at the club

He’s not at the club though! It’s a completely irrelevant point that you keep driving home. We get you rate Mads. I personally don’t think he’s that much better than Stolarcyck. Schmeichel should be our benchmark not Mads.

We're a League 1 club mate. We simply will not be signing a player good enough to make about 300 Premier League appearances and another 50 in Europe.

 

If Kasper is your bench mark then you will always be disappointed.

 

Ultimately there's a reason why Stolarcyzk is on the bench for a League 1 team and why West Ham spent £20m on Hermansen. It's because Hermansen is the far superior keeper.

Mads Hermansen, before he got injured here, was ****ing immense for our needs. He's extremely good on the ball for a goalkeeper, you can be as cynical as you like about the importance of that but it was important to Enzo. He was also an absolutely phenomenal shot stopper, easily the best in the league and his control of his area - and really, his entire third of the pitch - was very good from open play.

 

He didn't make a lot of actual goalkeeping mistakes, he made a small handful of mistakes in possession that Enzo would have accepted as an expected risk of the style of play. Given how vital he was working with Winks and Vestergaard to beat the press, he almost certainly contributed a significant net gain in goals compared to any he cost us from passing it to opposition forwards. I actually only really remember the Watford one as genuinely unforgivable? 

 

But then he got injured, missed a lot of football and we rushed him back before he was fit. He never properly recovered, causing more injury issues and we sold him before he ever got fully right. 

 

I don't particularly hold him not dominating the air in the box from set pieces against him. He's not tall by goalkeeping standards, he was never going to bully attackers in the air. He was probably coached to stay on his line, just as Kasper was, partly because of his height and partly because some data analyst working on set pieces will have decided you're statistical less likely to concede a goal doing that. Same reason clubs stopped putting defenders on the posts at corners. 

 

End of the day, at his best here he looked like he was destined for a Man City or Chelsea. Yeah it didn't work out for him but hand waving him off like he wasn't the only actual standout keeper we've had since Kasper is unfair. He gets put on a pedestal for pretty obvious reasons, he's the only keeper we've had since who wasn't muck. 

 

In any other Leicester era, Stolarczyk wouldn't ever have been made the senior squad let alone had Foxestalk debating whether or not he's any good. He just looks decent because we keep hiring complete clowns like Ward and McCarthy. Iversen was the same. Average as all ****, just looked like the GOAT because of the nonsense he was next to.

If he's on the bench in league 1 he'll leave, leaving us worse off. Having a shit defence in front of him with a manager insisting on constantly fu*king around with the ball at the back hasn't helped. The keeper along with the whole back line are like a rabbit in headlights playing suicide football in defence. Play a different style of football that players are actually capable of might be a good place to start.

We have Russell f£&king Martin in charge. My worry is we haven’t even seen the half of it yet. Let alone think he might stop it.

I like him but his confidence is clearly shot and being back up here is pointless. McCarthy is just awful and we are genuinely risking relegation if we give him the season.

 

Sell Stolarcryk, put that towards a first choice, even if that’s loan to get us through, and get McCarthy out the side!

His problem are his mistakes .... a striker misses a couple of sitters not to much is said .... a goalkeeper makes 1 error it's usually fatal and his card is marked ... but saying that his whole game has a lot to put right.... needs to command his area more and be more aware of position although goalkeepers of all ages at Leicester are trained to come out of their area and up the pitch

Jakub is a decent keeper for this level. The problem is the manager’s style doesn’t help him. He’s woeful with his feet. A “normal” champ / L1 manager in charge would show that he’s a fine keeper. This one… not so much. Why we recruited McCarthy who is also crap with his feet is beyond me. He’s maybe marginally better than Jakub at that but I don’t think he’s significantly better as a pure goalie. A bizarre decision
