Got a feeling Dewsbury Hall will be of interest to a few Premier League clubs, after all he is being admired by Fulham…

Left-footed centre back, and a right-footed right winger for competition, we played 3 different players there on Wednesday.

Shift out the likes of Daka, Ward and Iversen.

But if we are still top of the league we need to be trying to sign premier league level players as a championship club so we don;t end up with them on the books for 4 years, but not good enough. I imagine this will be a challenge unless we're well clear at the top, so loans might be the best option.

How do we tackle this?

Do we sell the ones that still need to go?

Do we not touch anything?

Do we sign players for the potential Premier League season next year?

Do we sign players for the final push this year?

I feel it could be a good window to get people on the cheap under the radar for next year. I think we'll have a shortlist of people that we could get a bit cheaper maybe rather then waiting to next season. Thoughts?

Over the last 6 years, 88.7 points is the average to get automatic promotion. We have 15 league games before new year. If we only average 2 points a game in that period, we’ll be on 57 points - and it’s likely that 33 points more would be enough from remaining 21 games. Getting PL standard ‘upgrades’ may be hard in January. Club may be tempted to accept that, barring a catastrophic injury crisis and fall-off in form, they will get over the line and therefore keep their powder dry until summer? So many ‘ifs and buts’ in that, mainly around our squad staying fit in the here and now.

I'd like another winger.

Leicester City scouts were in attendance to watch Porto vs Portimonense over the weekend, O Jogo has reported (via Sport Witness).
Leicester City’s squad is looking pretty strong as they sit top of the Championship table after 11 games. The Foxes boast what is up there with the best teams the second-tier has seen after dropping from the second-tier, maintaining a number of standout performers after relegation.

While there were summer exits for high-profile names like Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, Enzo Maresca boasts a squad many believe is far above this level.

Now though, it seems they’re not resting on their laurels having been spotted on a transfer mission over the weekend. O Jogo (via Sport Witness) reports that Leicester City scouts were on the short list of teams in attendance as Porto beat Portimonense over the weekend.

It remains unknown who was on their radar. The game was decided by a single goal, with Brazilian striker Evanilson securing a 1-0 victory for the hosts.

On the lookout
It seems Leicester City have one eye on potential January transfer window targets. It shows they’re looking to strengthen and further bolster their ranks despite enjoying such a strong start to the season, and that can only be a good thing.

Time will tell if anyone from the Porto vs Portimonense game appears as a firm target further down the line, but there’s certainly no harm in taking in a game or two, even when the window is still a few months away.

Leicester City have already recruited from Portugal this season. Abdul Fatawu signed on loan from Sporting CP so it will be interesting to see if the club dip into the same market later in the campaign following this recent mission.

If we are to get promoted and build the squad over next summer, it would be ideal if we have cleared the wage bill and squad numbers for inbound transfers beforehand. Hit the ground running and not leave it so late (for once). Imagine we could offload 4-6 players in Jan if we planned this right.

100% one to look at if we go back up. He should have been looked at last season before he signed his new deal.

I laughed tonight when someone mentioned Tielemans back to us on loan.

Ironically, I see a world where Barnes returns when Newcastle look for the next level of players and choose to keep Gordan over Barnes.

Youri can very much stay away though

...I  have thought the same thing, regarding Barnes!!!

I feel he will not settle and would be looking to get back to the Midlands.

I think he'd thrive in Enzos system too

A loan back for Barnes would be ideal. See if he can fit into Enzo's system without contributing much to Newcastle trying to square their FFP.

Edit: obviously I'm thinking more next summer than this Jan

Adrian Bernabe!

Seems such an obvious move, can’t believe it didn’t happen in the summer. Would provide good cover for both Winks and KDH.

Edit to add - let Praet go, and bring this guy in, in Jan. Would be good future planning.

...he looks really good, great to have someone who understands deadball situations!!!

Playing in Serie B with his talents, would like to see if he could step up as now would be the time to take the risk. Having just signed a contract to 2026 not sure if he would be amenable to come here.

Does Maresca need any reminders about Parma right now?

Nico Paz on loan. Young, might be able to do what Casadei currently seems unable to.

Nwaneri could be another option. Again, very young. Don't mind youth if there's huge talent that goes with it.

...I think this is what we hope Will Alves will look like when he is back!!!

Love the fact that he links up well and is prepared to give the ball to his teammates. Nwaneri has skills but has that selfish me-only streak in his game. He

looks better when playing others in, looks so much better when he does that.
