The House of Commons is a cesspit, we desperately need electoral reform. Is electoral reform going to encourage good people back into politics? Or let the main parties drop whoever they like into parliament via a list od candidates who don't need to win a single vote? Edited 8 May 2024 by Jon the Hat
Mickyblueeyes Posted 8 May 2024 Posted 8 May 2024 Starmer decision making at times is horrendous. Idiotic.

He has taken one of Sunak’s biggest small boats policy supporters, the one who features in every cliff top press briefing, and removed that chess piece from the game. Moreover, she’s pissing on Sunak on the way out. It’s not so much she’s joined Labour as left the Tories - I doubt we’ll hear a single word from her for the rest of the Parliament. Strategically, it’s a bit of a masterstroke. Outside of the Twitterati, I don’t think it has any impact on voting intention - and most will continue to hold their noses as she won’t be standing at the GE. Tories are now in full crisis mode - being told to stay in their constituencies so they don’t plot - they’re going to freak if anymore ebb away. One more could trigger a motion of no confidence and bring down the whole stinking mess. 1

Sly Posted 8 May 2024 Posted 8 May 2024 I need to find an alternative when it comes to voting. The conservatives are a mess. I won’t vote for Starmer. I just can’t warm to him or labour. 2
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 May 2024 Posted 8 May 2024 I assume that at some point Labour will come up with some policies or do something to generate interest beyond simply not being the Tories, which seems to be enough for a lot of folk at the moment

I've got enough detail in these Wikipedia entries on obscure inter war military aircraft thank you VERY much. I can quite understand why it might be tempting - and very, very satisfying - to sit and watch the Tories implode and why that might be part of the strategy if indeed it is. I do worry though, and this is purely based on talking to people that I want to shake, that this "all politicians are the same/none of them do anything/why bother" attitude is quite entrenched at the moment and although a shiny manifesto might yank folk out of their torpor shouldn't there be a bit more build up to that? 2
Bellend Sebastian Posted 8 May 2024 Posted 8 May 2024 You seem oddly disinterested in our vision for a better Britain, Madam, but can I tell you what I've learned about the Avro Anson?
