All other public services will end up with 3-7% payrises IMO, depending on previous year deals. The new offer only gets junior doctor real terms pay back to 2020 levels, which is still 20% below 2008 levels. The new offer is also only 1% above what the Tories were offering. I suspect the deal will be accepted via a slim majority, but it could well still be rejected.

It won’t matter the identity of who did this heinous thing today - people will draw their own conclusions. Smashing the gangs is just not the answer and weak, the government needs to be stronger than that What do you suggest? Illegal immigrants get deported if they get their asylum claims rejected. We also need immigration to keep the economy afloat because British people don’t do jobs that pay poorly en masse. Unless I’m mistaken I don’t believe there’s ever been a case of somebody arriving on a boat engaging in a serious act of violence/terrorism? Like people keep saying “something needs to be done” yet aside from the people that happily pronounce what they’d like to see happen (which would break the Geneva convention), nobody ever actually has a realistic solution that wouldn’t do more harm to the country than good. This is not a dig, I kinda get why people see immigrants as a threat because it’s classic herd mentality but nobody ever offers actual solutions apart from hatred. Edited 29 July 2024 by Lionator 3 1

This is not a comment on Southport as obviously we don't know the details yet but I find it very hard to believe we need immigration on the scale of the last 2/3 years to keep the economy afloat. If we do, we are ****ed beyond belief. As for solutions, there's a big trade block just off the coast of Kent where apparently highly skilled and educated people can move about freely... 4

Unfortunately the care sector is absolutely wrecked. Post Brexit, the European people that came to work in the sector obviously didn’t come anymore that meant we had to recruit from India, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Syria etc etc. because those people are willing to do horrible jobs at the minimum wage. I can imagine it’s a very similar scenario in other sectors that I don’t have personal knowledge of 1

The question is what are the politicians and those in authority going to do about it! Condolences and hollow words just won't be enough we need to see a proper response to violent crime and unprovoked pycho attacks. The police have lost the streets of this country and are courts are pathetic and are prisons are beyond capacity. Enough is enough. I am sick of seeing instances like this on a near regular basis. Stop letting in illegal immigrants at every possible cost

RowlattsFox Posted 29 July 2024 Posted 29 July 2024 It takes the sickest of sick ***** to stab a child. With shootings, there is almost a detachment from the victims (not trying to reduce the sickness of shootings btw) but to stab someone takes the physical effort, and to do that to a child I can't comprehend. I can't even imagine what a motive would be

It's legal immigration that's fcking us over. The elderly have swapped European immigration - under freedom of movement - for some kind of ghastly student/nurse visa system that brings in all sorts from Timbuktu that haven't a scintilla of interest in the UK. 1 1
