It is really easy! Listen to the pre match announcement, on yesterday's occasion it was a minutes applause for Vichai which will start and end when the referee blows his whistle, and on the 66 minute a minutes applause for Bobby Charlton.

What actually happened was applause started as soon as the announcement began, (which happens in every stadium most times) meaning the tribute for Vichai lasted about 20 seconds after the announcement, and on 66 minutes the Vichai song was sung.

3 things to do, but was obviously more difficult than it seemed!

I already knew but it really didn't help that the announcer at the stadium spoke for the majority of the applause, could barely make out what he was saying.

It's done. Why do people get so worked up by this stuff.

As I said in the Stadium Atmosphere thread.

People seemingly have to find ways to get worked up over the football and are coming up with ever increasingly daft ways to do it given the football is so good at the moment.

Didn't the tribute for Bobby Charlton start in the 67th minute as well lol

Started when the clock hit 66 minutes which is technically the 67th minute but that's proper splitting hairs

Quite an apt comment when you consider the Charlton comb over hairstyles. :D

There's 35,000 people inside the stadium, many of which would have trouble following the most basic of instructions.

I think it went pretty well considering.

The biggest farce was when we used to say we will do a minute's silence after the horn for Remembrance Day and both home and away fans would think like most grounds it finishes after the horn stops playing.

Led to both sets of fans going mad at each other about how disrespectful we are. Was chaos. Glad they don't do it like that any more.

Well I'm a bit thick and I didn't listen at the start so when it all started I was frantically wondering how old Vichai would've been this year and had simultaneously completely forgot about Bobby Charlton, it seemed about right to sing about Vichai... I imagine I'm not the only one

Not sure why they didn't just put a picture of Bobby Charlton on the big screens on the 66th minute. Would have made more sense.

Don't need stuff on the screen while the game is taking place in my opinion. I don't really get the need to have the feed of the games / replays on them either tbh.

Glad I wasn't the only one doing that calculation. Couldn't hear the announcement, so had assumed the 66th minute applause was also for The Boss. Both fine fellows and absolute gentlemen, and I'm sure they wouldn't mind shared appreciation.

Holding to a quality of life, that we British used to do in our stride..

A feeling of achievement & satisfaction, that when a job is to be done.. Don't balls it up, when it's a question of simple education, & within one's capabilities...

Why..!! Don't we fans, also hold our club management & players to that same account..??

Or ones kins folk,

I thought it was pathetic, that in that respectfull period individuals give thought on the passed Chairman, friend or relation.. Someone on a tannoy was jabbering away.. Also ditto the other way  around.. One abides their time..

Poor souls and shell of a body, if one can't see it..!!

We have an open forum.. In the old days a quiet word would have been dropped, so today gets blown out of proportion..

It's hard keeping up the British bull dog spirit and sense of self on simple etiquette

It doesn't really matter does it.  At the end of the day, we all clapped and we all took a moment to think about Vichai and Bobby, paid our respects, acknowledged them, and got on with the game.  You can't expect to organise 32,000 people by making one statement in a noisy stadium.

I wouldn't say I get worked up about it but I do sit there and just think "How thick are you?!"

Hey, Remembrance Day is approaching....let's see how people deal with the minutes silence/Last Post, that always confuses people, without fail.
