And you're presuming we can't now either? We raised over £90m last summer and spent less than half of it. We still need to sell to buy but the financial flexibility of making vast profits on some players to also be able to move other players with no futures here is a viable decision.

I don't know.

Without know all the variables of our financial position mainly wages as the rest you can work out.

We have to stick to the Championship P & L rule which is a loss of no more them 39m over 3 years (13m a season).

Assuming we are in for 1 season, we are going to be expected to lose no more than 13m this season.

Souttar's contract is over 5 1/2 years, so the £15 million will be spread over the duration, so that is around £2.72 million a year.  Now the club will be interested in the balance sheet for FFP.  By the summer his value on that will be minus 1 1/2 years of his contract, so if he goes for around £11 million, then it wouldn't show as a loss.  If we send him on loan next season, then the club can sell him for around £8 million, technically the club hasn't lost any money on him, but in the real world, we know that to be untrue.

Is that how it works when you bugger off after only a year? It's hard to fathom it out.

He’s still only 19 too, feels like we’ve been hearing about him for years and waiting for him to play. Looks pretty composed and got to the ball ahead of their attacker a few times. Strong too. Think we might have a player here

instead of playing Coady in the RCB role when Faes has a game off play Nelson, Coady has only every played in the middle really since becoming a CB

Has he declared for Scotland or England yet? He’s got the highest ceiling out of any of the players currently coming through.

You've got to have a high ceiling when you're 6ft5!

Reports on Forest’s situation imply that the PL will enforce a rolling three-year loss including two years at the EFL standard (₤13 million per year) and one year at the PL standard (₤35M/year).  So, a maximum loss of ₤61 million.

Who knows how different sanctions by different league authorities are legally enforced?  But the assumption is that the PL will take two years in the Championship into account when judging the Trees.

If that’s correct, our maximum rolling three-year loss will be ₤83 million when accounts are published in June.

For any who want to try to understand basics of FFP, this article is as good as I’ve found  without going deep into the weeds:

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/13041990/premier-league-financial-fair-play-rules-explained-what-restrictions-are-there-on-clubs-spending-what-they-want

footnotes:

   - It’s actually more complicated, because clubs are allowed to average in a fourth year when one of the three years was the “COVID season” of 2020 - 2021.

   - UEFA’s rules for their competitions are stricter and include a “squad cost ratio”.

By the way, Forest are unequivocally in violation, and by an excess-loss figure similar to what earned Everton their ten point deduction.  Their defense is that they should be allowed to move their September sale of Brennan Johnson into the previous year’s accounts, because they would have got less money in June.  That sounds like a “dog ate my homework” argument … which didn’t work for the Ev.

I really hope he’s added into the rotation of centre halves for more than just the cup games. Ease him in by all means but I’d rather see him get minutes than the likes of Coady who doesn’t look great on the pitch thus far.

seemed to really grow into the game; and whilst you can see he still has some filling out to do I thought he left a really good account of himself against Millwall

He will be whilst Souttar is away. That said, he made about 4 appearances all season so it's not much more than Nelson has got anyway.
