I hope we give him a good shot the back end of the season as he looks like the next potential money spinner for us… lad looks like he’s got everything in his locker to be a top cb!

He was everywhere across the backline today, sorting everything out. At one point he popped up on the left, shortly after having made a great tackle on the right, and I genuinely questioned if he had (or needed!) a CB partner. Forgot Coady was even on the pitch!

Vestergaard, Faes, Nelson are our three best VBs for me right now. Well done, Ben.

Should be above Coady in the pecking order.

Different roles. Coady better for middle centre half in possession and Nelson better for right sided one IMO.

Decent, but some rusty passing there on show from him. It’ll for sure get better with game time, so not too concerned. Also, not sure it helped having to pass to an erratic Hamza yesterday.

Shuffle the existing pack. Doesn't have to be like for like. He should be ahead of Coady and if we've got any foresight he will be.

Played really well and great to see academy players coming through.

I think we might be looking at this a bit differently if Brum would have put a couple of their many 1st half chances away, though.

He looks good in those clips. Passing needs working on, but I'm really more concerned about him actually being able to defend.

The defending itself was like a seasoned pro, really good to see that from such a young player. Of all the young players I've seen this season, Nelson looks the one that actually looks like he could be a first XI player in the prem for us.

I think we’ve played it right with him. Physically he looks ready and has a self confidence. Question mark will come if we try to loan him out next season if we get promoted. Because he looks ready for the Championship

I'll never understand the desire to include 10 yard sideway/backward passes under no pressure at all, in these types of videos.

I'd prefer a video 50% shorter but with actual contributions/skills shown.

Bah humbug :ill:

Yeah this is how I feel on him, in a way it would help him here for us to not go up. Lets offer him on loan to Leeds in the summer.

I like Nelson, and I thought he played well under adverse circumstances.  But I’m not sure how well he fits the role Enzo envisions for a CB.  He likes ball-playing defenders over no-nonsense CBs, just as he prefers ball-playing keepers over shot stoppers.  That may not be a luxury he can worry about in the PL, but it all depends on how rigid Enzo turns out to be in his philosophical inclinations.  One way or the other Nelson is going to have to work on his possession and passing before Enzo will see him as a potential first-choice CB.

I think his passing was pretty good, those lofted passes didn't come off because the forwards miscontrolled them, mostly. He broke the lines when under pressure without smashing the ball away aimlessly.

I wonder who takes the first sub role now? Coady hasn't shined, Doyle hasn't been given too much chance since the injury and Nelson has shown he can do the role easily when called upon

JJ -> Doyle

Vestergaard -> Coady

Faes -> Nelson

Ricardo -> Hamza

He looks better than both.

Been really dissapointed with Coady, did we give him a 1 or 2 year contract?
