Popular Post Qwerty Posted 1 February 2024 Popular Post Posted 1 February 2024 It’s a pity we couldn’t do this deal, but if Inter wanted too much money, there’s nothing we could do about it. It would have been a nightmare if we’d spent too much, and ended up breaching FFP rules and having points deducted. Especially if Sensi hadn’t been that good, or had got injured! Remember how miserable everyone was when Silva’s signing was missed by 14 minutes, and then when he finally played he was pretty average. Having seen the trouble Everton and Forest are in with FFP, I’d rather not take any risks. And Enzo might be privately disappointed, but he’s been saying all along that we had to sell in order to buy. We haven’t sold anyone, so he can’t very well complain that he’s shocked we haven’t bought anyone. 5

Who signed all these deadwood players on high wages that we can’t move to any other club in the world? Who put us in the position to HAVE to make an outgoing transfer in order to complete a chump change incoming transfer? I never said that didn't happen or that current board are not responsible for past decisions. We're talking about the current Sensi deal. Don't understand why people think this deal collapsing is a surprise as no players have gone out. Our actual manager has told us this a number of occasions this January. Or would you prefer we’d signed him without a medical? Ridiculous logic. I know you have enough common sense to answer both of those questions.

I think it’s clutching at straws tbh. Inter aren’t in the driving seat here, they sell him now or lose him for free in the summer, and it’s a player that has played 60 mins for them this season, not somebody they’re wanting to keep hold of. It’s much more likely that we’ve moved the goalposts last minute, or that we never knew what we were doing in the first place 1

Dan Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 Not quite convinced he comes in the summer. I'd hardly be in a rush to come to us after this shambles. 2

How does everyone all of a sudden know what's happening behind the scenes? Maybe it was a inter that jacked up the price last minute?! Why would they bother when they will get nothing for him in the summer? He is not going to get into their team and they will now have to continue to pay his wages.

And if he flounced now, he’d look an absolute fool.

LCFC-92 Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 I know the way we have missed out might be frustrating, and it possibly shows further incompetence from the board...its not really a big deal missing out on the actual player himself. We're cruising the league, have players returning, and will have money and time come the end of the season. I am more frustrated at not shifting the likes of Ward and Souttar than I am missing out on Sensi tbh.
fazzyfox Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 Re why wasn’t it done earlier, perhaps the hope that a sale of Souttar, Nacho or Praet would enable the offer to Inter to be clearer / better and comfortably affordable and risk free to us. The waters were muddy, we were hoping they would clear but they didn’t. As to why it failed tonight, sounds like one club put a clause in loan agreement that the other couldn’t agree upon.

If remotely true it’s embarrassing from the board. But why would they do that - it's never going to pay off - and surely if they had done, then they come back and say ok, let's just go with what we agreed. It was more in our interests than inter's to see this through.
FrankieADZ Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 makes you wonder who moved the goalposts in the deal, us or them shamble for both teams imo

He's out of contract in 6 months and not in their manager'splans whatsoever. Frankly I imagine that they were happy for him to go for next to nothing. It sticks of us trying to shift the goalposts to save a couple of hundred grand or so. It almost makes me want to see us cock promotion up. Just so that Top might finally see what a ****ing charlatan he's employing to run his football club.
TeaMen Tom Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 On the other hand, KDH hasn't gone anywhere. And Yunis is improving. 1

Completed his medical, done all the media. Only for it not to get done a couple mins before the deadline. The man was literally at the training ground. Years will pass and I will still think back about the kind of lengths we went through to string this out until 10:59 pm deadline day for a deal the board knew they had no ability to complete 😂 Now it's just a matter of figuring out what’s the funnier* debacle, this or #14 Adrien Silva. *-I’m laughing but I’m angry too, just wanna put that on record.

TheGoldenGod Posted 1 February 2024 Posted 1 February 2024 Cant quite comprehend how people don't think this is a disaster window really. It's not inconceivable that KDH could get injured in our next game...then what. Incredibly weak 8s that's what😐 1
