I dislike Rodgers as much as the next guy but the only person to blame for the way Thomas’ career has panned out, is Luke himself.

Hopefully extend his contract and make a couple of quid in the summer?

Exactly looks  to have done nothing to improve himself game wise or physical wise

Why risk it for the sake of a few million quid. With Rudkin at the helm we'd just end up with another unneeded player taking wages for nothing.

Surely he felt he was above this level (and therefore above us as a club) hence why going on loan to a PL club though?

Now he's back in this league at a team 26 points behind us.

Perhaps there were a couple of options but the one in the PL was most appealing? Crazy to think I know. I really don't reckon it was a case of him thinking he was better than the club lol

Hopefully we release him at the end of the season. Absolutely no point in extending for another year just to have him training with the reserves, especially with his inflated wages.

He's nowhere near good enough for where we want to be, but he still has the chance to carve out a half decent career as a Champo player. Hope he doesn't squander it.

I disagree, Thomas was a better player when he broke through. Yes he could have worked on his game a bit more but he also seems to have suffered from being in a bad environment and mismanagement which was down to Rodgers. His game does have weaknesses but i think he is struggling with lack of confidence as much as anything else.

Wow. I expected to see lots of good luck messages.

Leicester lad and I suspect this might be far nearer to his level and start to thrive.

What I'd have given just to be an average championship / league one footballer!

What could he have done, that you would have seen, to evidence he was at least trying to improve himself? Have you been watching him train?

He may not have improved and it seems he's surplus to requirements here, but what makes you think the lad isn't even trying to get better?

Might get a pay out for him, shame it’s not worked out fo him, another promising player that Rodgers ruined…

No it's not. Not in this case. He wasn't good enough in the first place.

Players have to put everything into their development as well. Chilwell did it, and look where he is now.

Middlesborough still have to play Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton so hopefully Luke can help them do us a favour.

knowing how we negotiate he probably still has to play us as well 😂

People have to remember you need the right environment to thrive and develop.

If you have ever worked in a toxic workplace, you'll understand the impact it can have.

If players could do it all themselves, we wouldn't need coaches.

Got himself in the gym for starters a strong wind could knock him off the ball . Plus improve his fitness levels he always looked  to be blowing after about 10 minutes into a game . There’s  two for you .

As another poster says, how do you know he's not pounding the gym?

Maybe he just hasn't got the physiology to gain muscle mass. Maybe he's just slow, no matter how many sprinting drills he does.

I don't think he's a top level player. But the suggestion he's not put effort in is almost offensive.

I know you haven’t been his biggest fan over the years but at least your post is measured.

I rarely comment nowadays partly because I’m learning to let it go over my head but I  do if I feel Luke’s integrity is being questioned.

The typical fan has absolutely no idea on what goes on behind the scenes and to question his effort levels is absolutely offensive so thank you for calling this out. Have we ever heard any coach say he doesn’t try? has he ever kicked up a fuss ? absolutely not, he is a Leicester fan like the rest of us. Whilst some may think his shit and that’s absolutely fine, none of us can slag a player off for not doing what we think we should be doing when they may well be doing it. Remember clubs have conditioning coaches who will be working with players on things like this.

For a change the majority of the comments are wishing him well and that’s nice to see.

Let’s see how he gets on he’s still our player.

Because as someone that has  frequented the gym for over 30 years I’ve a pretty damn good idea . Whilst  he may not necessarily bulk up due to genetics or gain obvious muscle mass  he could still gain some muscle and more importantly some more strength. It is possible to be strong and slight of frame . His strength and not increase md at all . Who said anything about his speed I didn’t . I mentioned his fitness levels that’s nothing  to do with speed and also hasn’t improved .

Training at the gym as an amateur and training as a professional athlete are different situations. Football players not only have to be strong but they also have to be mobile and flexible, the club physio most likely will have given Thomas a workout routine and would not want him to train too much on developing muscles.

I don't rate him but the last couple of environments were abysmal for him. The shitshow of Leicester last season and then thrown from that into one of the worst PL sides in years. This is a sink or swim.

Mate, if Luke goes on to carve out a career at a famous old club like Middlesbrough (or similar) it's a level of standard and achievement very very few of us would ever reach in any of our chosen careers.

My lad - in his late teens -  plays senior league level and works hard at it and I'm as proud af of that, let alone achieving Luke's level.
