The maths is quite complicated, because teams play each other, so whilst 21 teams can all mathematically catch us, mathematically all 21 teams cannot catch us.

Huddersfield and Stoke for example, can both mathematically catch us, if by a turn of fortune they won every game between now and the end of the season, and we lost every game, however, they both have to play each other - therefore they cannot both catch us.

Hull in 7th can get a maximum of 93 points from their remaining games, but they still have to play all of the teams above them, so if they can win every game it means we take 3 points from Southampton, Ipswich, WBA and Leeds.

I think now we can put it as mathematically improbable that we don’t finish in the top 6.

Hmmm…. isn’t this basically the “… teams that cannot catch us …” thread, but asked in a slightly different way? 
 

Put it this way. If we lost all our remaining games I still think we’d finish somewhere between 5th and 8th, but probably in the top six. I can’t, however, be arsed to do any maths to support this

We definitely can't finish below 17th and I imagine it would be higher than that already. Only 2 of the teams between 15th and 21st can catch us but it could be any 2.
