The greatest ever Premier League Title race!

The greatest ever Championship title race!

Relegation, play off drama!

Pretty much all of it has faded out like a dull fart.

Smells of bs to me. Doesn't take into account the decisions they did get which were wrong

Must be the only bloke in the EFL asking for VAR given how bad the PL has been.

The level of analysis is pub garden level

According to the commentators, Southampton are best team in the league for; playing out from the back, inviting the other team onto them, counterattacking. Don’t know why they are only in the playoffs.

I agree with all of this, yet it may be beside the point.

The playoffs are a compressed version of tournament football.  You have to get out of your (two team) group, then you can leave it all out there in the final.  You simply cannot take a big risk of leaving yourself exposed in this round.  Especially with a hundred million pounds at stake, as you point out.

The excitement has to come from the emotional intensity and the stakes involved, because you wont get hell-for-leather entertaining football.

And yes, Southgate is a tournament manager who would suck to have at your club.  But that's his job.

I think you’re missing the point mate.

How teams choose to set-up is all a mentality thing.

There is no reason why Norwich couldn’t have seen today’s game as ‘their’ final.

They could have planned to win the game by getting forward, creating chances and trying to fashion a situation that put Leeds under real pressure to play well at Elland Road.

Instead, they chose to play defensively, to play safe, in the hope of probably nicking a 1-0 in the return fixture.

It’s incredibly negative thinking. And if Leeds now turn up on Thursday and win convincingly (THEY will now be massively bouyed by the home support!), Norwich will leave thinking that they didn’t even have a real go at home.

Playing safe is a choice. Norwich clearly decided that’s how they’ll go.

Re Southgate, this isn’t his job, it’s his personality. He seems an incredibly ‘safe’ person. I

imagine he’s navigated his way through life, according to a blue-print and is overjoyed that it’s come to fruition.

Possibly the best example of this is the Euro final v Italy. We were playing well in that tournament, the country was up for it and it was at Wembley. We even went in front and he STILL set us up not to concede, rather than to go and score again to finish the job!

Its mentality and it pervades contemporary football.

Yeah, conveniently forget the incorrect off side given against Daka. We would've trouced them in that game.

And the one against Middlesbrough  recently  also, which they scored from

Not impossible one day, the play offs may look to use the format the national league use, where 3rd and 4th automatically progress to the semi finals. whilst 5th - 8th battle it out in the quarter finals. Which of course opens the door for two further teams to have the chance of promotion. Not sure how I would feel with that.. the idea of someone who finished 8th could end up getting promoted.

I love it

No doubt they will big up who's going to make top 8 on the final day now

It's hilarious the crap they speeled on transfer deadline day in January when there was literally nothing going on 🤣

Leeds the gift that keeps on giving.

If VAR was present all season we would likely have broken the points record.

Farke is such a pathetic tosser. Just get on with your job.

You didn't go up automatically because there were 2 teams better than you! Jog on you bell end.

Nothing to change my mind that none of the teams in the playoffs have the minerals to survive next season without very large investment.

Haha. Jog on, mate. Daka offside and you'd lost 2-0 to us. Sounds like a sour grape sucking German

I thought that. We must have scored 9 lucky goals again - 1-0 to the saints over 2 legs. They keep it tight at the back too then

Leeds are the only club who were robbed all season. The other 23 clubs were lucky.

To varying degrees. All four teams were honking for longer periods of the season than us.
