Ok. Not sure I'm on right board, not started many topics. Opinions on Pep possibly retiring after next year?

To me he'll always be remembered as a manager who was at 3 great clubs, with great players and lots of money that equalled winning many trophies.

If he wants to go down as one of the best of all time, he needs to go to a team like Tottenham that have a mixture of average, decent and great players with the budget that doesn't really allow for 70m+ players unless they sell. Show he can do it without all of the help

Agreed on your thoughts of Pep having had exceptionally strong teams with strong financial banking

Any possibility of Pep being thrown in prison for effectively fixing an entire football league?

id imagine that was more the owners than Pep?

To be fair, it might start to  feel like a game of football manager and get a bit boring always winning… might have to switch clubs/ leagues or just go do something else..

I understand he’s a great coach but I’ve never been overly impressed with him. He goes to teams who dominate their leagues, chucks a billion quid at it, implements his incredibly dull style of football and walks trophies. Obviously not just anyone could do that but a lot of competent football managers could. As said above if he went to a team like spurs or their equivalent in a different country and won trophies with them without spending the world I’d be a lot more impressed by him.

I agree, I have always thought that his teams don’t actually excite me.  Liverpool, on the other hand under Klopp’s reign for the most part have played attractive football.  If he had managed someone like Aston Villa, or West Ham and guided them to multiple titles I would have been impressed.

To my mind, most decent managers should win the league with Man city's players and resources at their disposal.

Real managerial talent is getting teams like Ipswich into the premier league, or teams like Bournemouth and Brentford and keeping them there on limited resources.

I know they win well and get paid a lot but Pep seems able to keep a happy settled squad over the years without any friction or if anyone steps out of line they are quickly dealt with without too much fuss.

Same with Klopp at Liverpool.

Conpare that with Man U and in the past Arsenal .

Spurs & Trophies in the same sentence, surely not!

People saying they've bought their sucess man. lol Get out of it.

The dude is a genius. Probably the greatest ever to do it. Consistently evolving his team in relentless pursuit of perfection. Somehow manages to find ways to utilise his players in different ways and barely ever misses the mark. Knows exactly when to move players on and refresh his squads. He's revolutionised the entire game.

Like Koke says, the likes of Man United have spent billions trying to chase Man City and are abject dogshit.

There's a reason Liverpool and Man City are consistently battling out for the top of the league. Their managers.

Good riddance. Can’t come soon enough.

And then, maybe, hopefully, there may be a change in this one size fits all style most clubs try to play regardless of whether it suits them or not. (That is as much on other clubs than him though)

Disagree, disagree, strongly agree.

There's no way most managers would win the league with Man city, Man Utd and Chelsea have spaffed more money than them and are horrendous.

We've seen first hand how truly diabolical a level of football the championship really is, with little to no tactical awareness or competent teams. You don't need a great manager just a great motivator to take someone out of that league. Ipswich will come straight back down next season, just like Luton, because everyone will work McKenna out within a few days and he is nowhere near good enough to combat that.

Yes, Thomas Frank for three seasons and Irioala this season have been incredible. Would say the same for Gary o Neill at Wolves.
