It has never occurred to me once that there was more than 1 was to pronounce Nene! I've always known it as "Neen" and my Rushden & Diamond supporting mates have never once corrected me.

It's nen. As in ten. And anyone who says different can get in the bin. Or ben. 

 

Pronunciation shifts somewhere around Thrapston. Peterborough are intellectually stunted.

I always thought it was Nain...   but then none of my family were born there.

 

A bit like my family living in Seaford...   it's pronounced Sea....Ford.   Not Seafud

I too, assumed it would be Neen. I'll remember now that's it's not. 

Pronunciation is always a lot more straightforward if you're born to it. After nearly 20 years of being together, I'm still having to correcltly pronounce Belviour to my Southern OH...
