Fair play to Slot.

Didn't go off screaming in the refs face like he'd just murdered his dog ala Klopp.

Probably because they just need a simple win in the 2nd leg? If it was a KO he would have been chasing the ref in the middle of the pitch.

He did a bit to be fair.

Yes then the assistant got involved

If VAR was used all the time as it was tonight would they say  someone dived in their view ?

That could stir up a storm !

I know it's not the most prestigious trophy nowadays but a Newcastle V Spurs cup final would be pretty decent. Both massive underachievers in the last 30 years

Probably just what the League Cup needs - it's been utterly boring watching the usual suspects - who clearly don't give a shit about it - win it again and again for the past 11 years.

I'd be glad to see either win it - yes, even Spuds. As hilarious as their trophy allergy is, at least their fans will appreciate it, and it might reignite a little bit of interest in a competition that the "big boys" have been fairly transparent in trying to sideline out of existence.

Can't be doing with two entitled fanbases reaching the final.

I think any of the 4 semi finalists' fanbases could fall under this, Newcastle despite everything seem a bit more likeable thanthe other 3 imho though

Spurs v Newcastle would be a proper League Cup final. Old school.

Fully expecting Liverpool v Arsenal now.

I think Newcastle will have enough at home, but I can see Liverpool turning it around.

They probably could tbf but Newcastle seem to carry this whole "big club" thing without winning anything in the last 50 years.

To be honest, it doesn't help the situation if the ref announces that decision verbally only after all that delay while the lines are drawn.

He could just as well draw the screen in the air, signal a free kick and get on with it.

Verbal announcements might help the crowd understand the ref's decision with stuff like "my decision was that it was not a foul in the build up, but VAR is reviewing....Decision reviewed, not overturned, play on" etc.

But they won't do that.

And that's what is all wrong about VAR....the Newcastle player had a arm to put him offside.....well not that looking back. It's getting mad....people like goals and not being told their might be a minute chance of doubt

Am I going mad?  Isaak handled it in the build up to control it.

Knee I think and he didn’t score so can it be disallowed anyway ?
