What do we do? It’s become obvious Southgate can’t seem to get the best out of what’s at his disposal but somehow we keep doing well at tournaments but failing to get over the line. Do we go with him again ? 
 

Personally I’ve always thought he was a FA yes man and tactically he’s as dull as his personality but I don’t know who we look to for us to take that final step.

People are crediting Southgate for getting us to finals and having a chance, we should be bloody winning. Imagine if Man City failed all the time a lost out on trophies, they would sack the manager

He doesn’t have that ruthlessness that some of best athletes have. Compare his mentality to someone like Ben Stokes.

Not particularly sure the stat that tells you anything really though.
 

Knockout games in the Euros were very few until 1996.

 

World Cup format only really opened up post 1990 as well. 
 

We’ve beat a few of those in group stages when they were far more competitive than now. Uruguay we’ve played three times competitively - 1954, 1966, and 2012. Only really the latter probably says where we are

I will never again even entertain the argument that this guy is world class. He's a master of failure and was a detriment to the team. 

 

On the other hand, he's doesn't pick himself every game so it's on the other failure

4 draws in 90 minutes in 6 games got us to the final. Spain had 1 game go to Extra Time and even then were dangerous. 

 

 

Southgate saying having 1 less day to prep is just an awful excuse. 

 

We were good for probably 5 minutes of the whole tournament and were reliant on screamers.

Sven had numerous tournaments with the best selection of defenders in my lifetime easily. Not justifying the shite Southgate has had us playing though

Tbf he was to loyal to a team that wins fvck all. Should have left years ago to go and win trophies, like Rooney did Everton.

Southgate’s a decent bloke, he looked genuinely distraught at the end and I feel sorry for him. He’s made us a better tournament team, a more cohesive unit, more resilient and focussed at penalties. But he should step aside now, the Euros in 28 is time for us to get in the habit of playing the brand of football our players can play. Kane should step aside too.

Theres no way Kane will be leading the line for us in 4 years.

That Croatia side was stacked tbf and we were pretty average
