teblin Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 (edited) How it ended with Rodger’s was sad, as actually 2 top 5 finishes, an fa cup, charity shield and a European semi final. Is probably the most successful we have been other than 2016. Also it didn’t help that we didn’t get to see a season and a half in person. He lost it and made himself into a villain in the end, also in hindsight maybe the club did let him down too. He wasn’t likeable, but I know people who really didn’t like Nige despite his achievements. Cooper as a guy I think is quite likeable, but just not up to the job, I’m usually one for giving people time but it’s just not good. Everything I’ve seen of coopers Leicester is what I worried about based on the 4-0 thrashing we have forest. They didn’t press not sit back, they gave us space and we attacked at will. Also in their home game where they beat us, he was lucky barnes didn’t have his shooting boots on. I would get rid now! Edited 12 November 2024 by teblin 1
daddylonglegs Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 Those next 10 games give me serious flashbacks to Rodgers/Smith in 2023. If the board have any sense whatsoever, they'll be sounding out Corberan/Potter/whoever now and getting them ready to come in, should results be poor against Brentford & Chelsea. We've then got four games where either we continue to trundle along in the hope we might accidentally nick a win under Cooper, or get someone in with some ambition & motivational qualities. Leave it any later and all of a sudden we're sitting there on new years day with about 3 more points than we've got at the moment.

If you asked every one of those 3k whether they'd trade Nuno to get Cooper back, hardly any of them would say yes. They regard him fondly for getting them promoted when they were floundering in the Championship, but most of them recognise that he was tactically very limited and that Nuno is on a completely different level. 2

Much like when Big Nige came back to the KP last season with Bristol City, rightly he got a superb reception but no way would I have had him back in place of Enzo. 2
Popular Post FoxesTalker Posted 12 November 2024 Popular Post Posted 12 November 2024 There's a real chance here for the board to be proactive rather than reactive, and to show they've learnt from what happened under Rodgers. The outside view probably doesn't understand the demand for Cooper to go, but 22/23 left a scar on the fanbase and the current stats suggest we're only heading in one direction. Of course, let's hope not for the sake of the club but Cooper isn't proving to be the right fit culturally which was always the risk when he was appointed. 5

les-tah Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 Well if he wasnt sacked yesterday like we all new it wasn’t happening its definitely not going to happen now. Heres to another free pass at the weekend and then the international break for cooper to “fix things”. club stinks, top stinks, rudders stinks, all of um stinking the place out. 4

I'd give him the cup, but with level of players we had, 5th place was an under-achievement , we should've at least finished 3rd. Don't forget we were second place for the majority of those two seasons. Conference leauge semi-final doesn't really count. We we're better 90% of the team we should've been in the finals but we played like shit towards the end of the tournament. Rodgers was the villain from the beginning most of us were blind to see it until it was too late. Cooper is just the same making look like he has good results despite the players we when in reality it's just the opposite. 1
hejammy Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 I don't really hate Cooper per se - I think the guy is out of his depth - not really suited to Premier League football. 3

LVFox Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 We desperately need someone who can organise us defensively. It has to be Moyes for me. I didn't want him when we had the point deduction hanging over us, but he's perfect now. Think we are good enough going forward to finish 15th or above if we sorted out how leaky we are at the back. 1

If he was sacked already we'd know about it. Everybody at the club would know he wasn't taking training and somebody would leak the news. There's no way they'd be able to keep a lid on it for a couple a days. That doesn't mean he won't be sacked, but trust me we'd have heard already if it had already happened. 1

sharpylcfc Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 @Wymsey would just like to say if your source doesn't prove to be correct tomorrow I hope you don't feel the need to leave FoxesTalk. I appreciate the snippets of info we get occasionally and hope you don't feel the need to not share info because a few people like to say that your information from a source wasn't correct. A few people who were ITK left here because of a few people going OTT because information from past ITK wasn't always 100% correct.
KFS Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 We’ve been here before. He hasn’t/ won’t be sacked.
Wymsey Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 Only mentioned the Wednesday aspect, as know someone who works at Seagrave - who said that Top often comes in on-site on a Wednesday typically to see how things are going etc. 3

Makes me sick because they've won a couple games now. Not one of them would swap him in for Nuno...almost as if they've languished for decades and actually forgot what a good coach looks like. Being a legend for Forest means nadda to us. There are genuine LEVELS to this game and they're tinpot in terms of expectations and recent success.
Claudio Fannieri Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 (edited) Reality is most of the playing staff will be away from the club for a few days either on international duty or having a few days off which is what usually happens at the start of an international break. He may well have been informed of the decision but there will be severance deals to be negotiated and finalised so announcements may be on hold until all the legal formalities been finalised. Edited 12 November 2024 by Claudio Fannieri
RoboFox Posted 12 November 2024 Posted 12 November 2024 Potter's been overlooked by the national side which he was clearly angling for, but is obviously ready to return to management given he's appearing on Sky every week to remind us. The club obviously wanted him in but the deal fell through at the 11th hour. I'm not convinced he'd be the answer but he'd sure as fvck be better suited than Steve "3rd Choice" Cooper. It's a shame that our club lack the foresight to be proactive and Potter will end up at Wolves or West Ham when they inevitably pull the trigger first. Cooper will not be sacked this week.
