The difference between throwing milkshake and throwing acid is far bigger than the gap between throwing milkshake and doing nothing.

She could have thrown acid; but she didn’t. She could have shot him where he stood but she didn’t do that either.

Yep.

Using the same logic, someone who shot him with a nerf gun could be done for attempted murder.

Who is the smart money on if an election is called?

The conservatives with Pierre P will 100% form the next government with a majority.

Most Canadians have been done with Trudeau for years now but he won't fook off. Freeland has forced his hand now. He must resign tonight or tomorrow latest.

So it would seem.

As per above, I hope that I'm wrong about what's to come.

Local elections in May being scrapped? Thought I’d rub my eyes and check what I’m reading but nope I read it right.

You didn’t read it right. In some areas elections will be delayed because reorganisation is taking place. In Kent for example they’ll probably delay. In most cases this delay will mainly benefit the Conservatives by the way, as they dominated the last time these elections were held in May 2021 and control most the councils. Labour are non existent in most the affected areas.

Trump using the Ukrainian war as his propaganda piece is starting to get annoying now.

He said he’d have this fixed in one day if elected president and he’s not done it yet …..

Also, are Israel on a land grab mission in Syria now?

When he is President, not when he's President-elect. I'm all for criticising the orange tw@t btw, but he does have a technical 'out' just atm.

And yes, massive land grab by the Israelis.... It'll store up more hatred and simmering resentment with the Syrian population when they get their shlt together. They're not the only country btw to do this to Syria, Turkey is having a snifter too.

Yes, I was reading about Turkey after I posted.

BBC News and other outlets reporting that this chap assassinated in Moscow this morning was ‘in charge or Russia’s nuclear forces’. It’s so completely untrue that it’s misinformation. He was nothing other than a horrible propagandist with a military badge and his job role had an element of protection against radiological threats.

Our national broadcaster really needs to do better.

I had a quick look at how it's being reported by other leading media.

ITV, Sky, Reuters, Al-Jazeera, FT & Guardian are all reporting his status in similar, if not identical terms.

He'd just been accused by Ukraine of deploying chemical weapons in the war there, apparently.

Mind you, I do generally find that C4 News is much better than BBC for foreign analysis - and for news generally, to be honest.

The BBC is also now reporting that Ukraine has claimed responsibility for the assassination....

Maybe I’m a little late to the party but it looks like the BBC’s been changing its description of him to something more accurate over the last hour?

I honestly think it’s just laziness from editors who are trying to get a story out asap.

Erdogan has a lot to gain domestically if he can get at the Kurds in Syria . This isn’t really being reported in the western media. The Kurds have had a bad few months on many levels. Obviously the fall of Assad is good for them but if it enables the Turks to get at them without fear of attack from other forces then it may end up being worse. (Certainly in the short term)

Bloody hell, is there a current headline/event in the ME that doesn't showcase religious and/or nationalist realpolitik in all its grubby, self interested, death-worshipping glory?

Read the case thoroughly and I don't understand how anyone could oppose it. Sickening.
