He's a few more rejections from becoming a modern era Curbishley

It's exactly why he needs to swallow his pride and accept a job at Southampton or Leicester instead of holding out for an offer at Manchester United or Newcastle that's never going to come.

Na that was the one cool thing he did imo

Agreed. No one player is bigger than the team. I’d say his downfall this year has been moving away from that if anything.

I don’t rate Potter that highly. You’ve only got to look at the improvement in Brighton since he left to see that the tools were in place.

I’m genuinely a bit disappointed Ten Hag has gone because it was such an amusing clown show. It’s comical how bad he’s made them.

Genuinely incredible how he managed to get them to cough up such an eye-watering amount of money on a squad that is so unbelievably poor.

There’s no sugar coating it: that squad is utter crap.

I mean, considering he took over from Chris Houghton who was barely keeping them up, did he put the tools in place?

He left them 4th in table after 6 games and they’d just hammered us.

In fairness, you could argue that he’s the Pearson of Brighton.

However, I’m just not blown away (personally).

Yes, we were capitulating though, with Danny Ward in goals.

I found this an entertaining read last night on a Brightons perspective on him.

Obviously it’s a snapshot of fans and wouldn’t be reflective, however similar to Pearson here, rightly (or wrongly) he isn’t universally loved.

Surely it's comparative - To get rid of this dosser and get Potter in would be like getting rid of Starmer and bringing in Blair

He massively improved Brighton defensively.

I see him as a builder type manager and think that is what we need. I said similar in the summer. Wish he would have come here.

However, if it's true he rejected us then fvck it don't keep banging on his door.

It's exactly the kind of thing Top and Co would do lol

One time he showed who was boss but seems to let egos  and complacency set in recently.

I just think it's an impossible fight there. Their recruitment has been so bad for a decade that that's all the club is, egos bought to sell shirts and over rated youngsters they paid silly amounts for.

The entire club needs gutting from the board to the pitch. Sell everyone, get a proper director of football, decide on a footballing direction, stick to it, accept that they've fallen down the pecking order and start just building again with some humility.

A decent director of football is more important at the moment

The real star at Brighton is Tony Bloom and his data driven algorithm, that allows them to uncover so many hidden gems, especially from South America. Houghton got them promoted and kept them in the PL. Potter made them better football wise, and had one good season when they finished 9th. De Zerbi took them into Europe and now they're thriving under an unknown 31yr old from the German 2nd division. At Brighton managers are just another cog in the machine. They can come and go but as long as the processes behind the scenes are there, they'll do well. It's the model most club owners are striving for.

They are really run but I think it's harsh saying their managers are just "another cog". Don't forget they were nearly relegated from the Championship in 2015 and from the Premier League in 2019, granted they've probably only had one bad appointment under Bloom.

It's about time they won a trophy though. They've not gone further than the FA Cup semi final or fourth round of the League Cup.

If bringing him in means getting rid of Rudkin cause he wants his own DOF I'm all for it.
