I'd say RM brought a lot on himself with his refusal to budge from his style of play, yet Crook points blame at above.

The south coast (fake cockney) Pep has gone.

For all the stick he gets, he probably will manage a better side. If we didn’t need to bank on them going down this year, I’d feel for the S’oton fans.

So Martin was too adventurous, Cooper too cautious....

Bottom line is both clubs have championship quality squads in reality. Ditto Ipswich. The table doesn't lie. RvN will need to perform a miracle and needs a good January window, which is a real challenge.

When winning most week.

It was the absolute pits from 2004 to 2008

I was gonna say, people really do romanticise the championship. Ask Stoke fans if they've enjoyed any part of the last 6 years.

Bit like every league - great if you do well but rubbish if you are under performing

Martin referring to “modern football” as a reason for fans disappointment. It’s a term used as an easy get out nowadays for any turn in fan opinion.

I’m sorry but in no era was sitting bottom of the league on 5 points after 15/16 games acceptable.

It's great that Martin has ideas on how he wants to play but once you can evidently see the team you have is not capable of it, you have to adapt. Rubbish keeper and some dreadful defenders at defending, let alone passing out from the back.

I'm sure Enzo would've adapted better had he stayed with us.

Interesting where Martin goes from here. Back to the Championship and attempt to build again? Although I'm he probably believes he's too good for that now.

I could see Martin going to Burnley if Parker gets the boot.

Not sure I buy into all this "he'll get a bigger job" chat.

Kompany got the Bayern job because he's one of the best players in the world over the last 20 years, and a respected leader. He brings a brand with him as well as good ideas.

I've always found it a bit strange Martins obsession with possession based football, i'd throw Ian Evatt (bit rogue but he's doing the same at Bolton and getting nowhere) in there too... both absolute slogger defenders, last ditch tackles, lump it as far away as you can... and suddenly they both turn into deciples of Pep when they start their coaching careers.

Just feels a bit short sighted, I can forgive Kompany because he was coached by Pep for several years... but a couple of lads from the lower leagues who barely strung a pass together in their playing career, just feels weird.

Surely when you're back is against the wall you call upon a bit of the experience that gave you a successful playing career, tighten things up at the back, getting back to basics against teams you don't stand a chance competing against?

People waxed lyrical about Holloway's Blackpool the season they were up... never got him a big job or kept them safe though did it?

We wouldn't have Edouard or Ayew.

Not ahead of Le Tissier, lets be honest.

Le Tiss missed one against Crossley I remember, who was a great penalty saver. Can't remember Parker ever missing at least for us
