They're hailed for their on-pitch success, in fairness. Their owner is an extremely successful businessman, investor and gambler, he knows how to make money. No Premier League football club is ever going to be particularly great for it's fans.

Brighton especially are going to find themselves in a situation much like we are where they need to generate as much match day revenue as is physically possible in order to be able to spend as much as possible on the squad to close the gap.

This is maybe the biggest problem of all with FFP and PSR and one thing that doesn't get spoken about nearly enough, it's massively anti-fan. Football clubs outside of the Big Six need to squeeze every single penny they can out of the fans that they have to pump up the income to try and compete.

Fortunately for Bloom, the demographic of his fanbase is a lot more affluent than most in the country outside London so he'll probably be able to push it quite far.

Give it 3-4 years and 'we used to play at the Withdean' will be Brighton's 'we used to be in League One'

I'd not even really thought about the anti-fan angle of PSR, you're totally right.

Especially as revenues have plateaued or even peaked because TV rights have. Plus it massively incentivises academy sales which is soul destroying for fans, selling local prospects because they disproportionately free up more funds to amortise - it;s not Roy of the Rovers stuff.

If they get a good offer I imagine they will do. Buy cheap, sell for profit. Reinvest. Keep the cycle going.

We tried to buy Wissa a year or so ago. Brentford wanted £40m or more IIRC.

West Ham agree deal with Chelsea to reunite Graham Potter with key recruitment ally Kyle Macaulay.

Southampton are optimistic Johannes Spors will be confirmed as technical director by early February.

Reshuffle.

If they do start making big money signings like this, it would suggest that they're about to do what we did and move away from their model.

What model?

The difference is that they don’t seem scared to sell players at the top of their value because they recruit replacements ahead of getting enquiries

we failed to do this. Players like youri, cags, madders should have been sold half way through their contracts when they were in big demand but we didn’t have replacements because were generally crap at recruitment

Ange has been a success everywhere he’s been, other than Tottenham.

It says more about Tottenham, than it does about he if I’m honest. I’d have had him in a heartbeat.

Jose got Spuds to a final and then sacked him days before. Jinx club.

That's a really good point about PSR. Hadn't even considered that angle. How grim.

I live down that way and Brighton have such a massive opportunity to tap into the next generation of fans down here. You see a fair few Fulham, Palace, and some Chelsea kits, but it's not proliferated with Man Utd, Liverpool or Man City fans it seems.

It's a bit like Southampton: Their relative success/stability in the 90s ish means there are Southampton fans all across the West Country too, and up into Wiltshire. I reckon Brighton fandom could easily expand out through Kent, for example, given time. So demand for season tickets and tickets generally could stay high if they play their cards right.

My dog could manage Celtic and get trophies. It's great he's got silverware from Japan and Australia, but those are far removed from PL level.

i think he's one of the sh1test managers i've seen at the big 6. His demeanor is unbelievable and can only imagine what its like to be a player under him. He behaves like a petulent teanager. My only hope is that he stays in the job for another week, although i wouldn't put it past us to help him out for a few more weeks.

He always says about how he wins stuff in his second season. But come on lol look at where he’s managed. Don’t care how snobby it sounds winning with Celtic is not hard.

To be fair, he did win them the Tiger cup.
