I see Fofanas season is done again. Got to be some of the best business we ever did. I don't believe in karma but it sure seems to be biting him on the ass

That and Maguuire is robbery, shame we spunked it up the wall

'Proper club' must be one of the most overused phrases in football. What tf does it even mean?

Old style stadium and a lack of success over the past 25 years seem to be a large part of the criteria.

Seen it said about Villa and Forest but they've both spent heavily to get to where they are. If Man City were still shite they would be prime proper club material, so why does success make them any different.

I tend to find it means the above and a fanbase who think they're much bigger than they are because they won trophies before 1992. They're exactly the sort who'll remind you that football wasn't invented with the Premier League, but refuse to acknowledge any achievements since the backpass rule was introduced.

Given how this season has gone, if it was offered right now I’d happily lose every game if we beat forest and it costs them champions league

Schadenfreude is all I have left. I'll sell my left marble to the devil if that's what it takes.

Bit unfair to lump Villa in with Forest I think

They challenged at the top end for most of the 90’s and a large part of the 2000’s and reached cup finals multiple times in that period

Forset on the other hand have had one decent PL season under Frank Clark in the 90’s over the last 30 years

He should be ashamed of himself.  Loved him at Leicester for the years before the last one.  He gave up giving 100% and became a lazy overweight embarrassment to himself (talking as a fat guy btw).  He should have left a year before he did instead of running his contract down to be a money grabbing git.  These players that forget they were fek all before we gave them a platform make me sick.

I don’t really blame Tielemans. It was more an indictment of the standards at the club. That you could cruise through and everything would be ok. We saw the insane arrogance from Maddison in the press, you saw Tielemans clearly unfit, some of us saw the likes of Barnes, KDH and Thomas stumbling through town midweek p*ssed as newts. It was an awful, arrogant culture and it’s still just as bad. We’re a soft touch club.

Football is such a moments sport. If that Sheffield goal had counted, villa go down. that then likely blocks forest ever even getting promotion.

That’s why footballs so amazing because these tiny moments can shape a decade for a club.

You look at how good the 2 of them are and Fulham, Bournemouth and Brighton and all of them could have been stuck in the championship with a little bad luck at the wrong time.

not even going to touch our little moments because off the top of my head we have had  Bournemouth head loss, Man U at home, spurs at home (bale you bastard), kermogant, deeney and the Madison pen at Goodison)

but at least we had the ulloa pen moment and the chillwell offside  because that more than makes  up for any bad luck we could ever get

Gary O'Neil - 9 points from 16 games

Vitor Pereira - 23 points from from 15 games

Only Liverpool have picked up more points in the last 2 months. Basically running at 2PPG since February.

That PPG under Pereira would give us 58 points over a 38 game season. Of course, that's with Cunha who won't be here next season (although he's also missed 6 out of those 15 games).

Vitor deserves more recognition in the media for the job he's done really. They'd be rimning O'Neil in the Sky Sports studios if he'd have had that record.

Credit to them. Shows what happens when you get an experienced manager in instead of going for a big name.

McKenna has got a big six to eight months coming. Deserved his reputation to a point but then the likes of Paul Lambert and Nigel Adkins managed back to back promotions, did better in their first season than McKenna but didn't kick on.

He'll get a pass but a slow start next season and goodwill drifts away.

Been a very meh league this season, 3 promoted teams all but relegated 5th April & champions elect Liverpool will be crowned as early as 20th April with 5 games remaining.

I’m glad Newcastle won the league cup. Hopefully Palace can win the FA Cup too. Then we have Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle sealing champions league places. Then it’s been tolerable.

I think they're the most likely of the three to go straight back up. Same manager, same style, kept the core of the squad together and added to it as well and they're the only one of the three who haven't completely disgraced themselves.

Yeah I guess you are right.

As Bilo said Villa are a genuinely big club for the reasons you've both mentioned.

Forest are in that band of about 20 clubs that interchange in purple patches and the biggest of those 20 are usually who is doing the best at a given point.

I’d put Villa, Spurs and Everton in a tier underneath the top clubs

Newcastle, West Ham and maybe Leeds underneath that

Then the likes of us, Forest etc below them

Nothing scientific though

Newcastle are bigger than Villa imo. Villa are probably on a par with Leeds.

In terms of club size, Forest-Leicester-Derby are much of a muchness.

Similarly sized grounds, fanbases, cities and long periods of mediocrity and failure punctuated by brief but glorious periods of success.

Which of the three is biggest probably depends as much on age to a neutral as anything else. I imagine most under 40 would say us due to recency factors.

Agreed

Derby is actually a lot smaller than Nottingham and Leicester though which makes their fan base begrudgingly impressive

Just reading an article on BBC sport about Soton and could they "beat" Derby's record, if they lose today, they will need 2 points or more from their remaining fixtures below..

Southampton's final Premier League games
6 April: Tottenham (a)

12 April: Aston Villa (h)

19 April: West Ham (a)

26 April: Fulham (h)

3 May: Leicester (a)

10 May: Man City (h)

18 May: Everton (a)

25 May: Arsenal (h)

Can't begin to imagine where they might come from... 🙄

It’s not just that. It’s when a DoF clearly spots issues at the club. They went out and got defenders in quickly. They sorted out the Cunha situation temporary too. As much about organisation as the managerial experience
