Maresca joined chelsea 30th may

Janik signed 7th of june

I think there's confusion whether the deal was actually signed before it was announced?

Arguing over who is less 5hit between Soumare and Skipp is peak Foxestalk.

Fair to say that I’d be happy if they both left but Skipp is likely to stay and he will at least hopefully put himself about a bit.

Soumare seems to get let off on here when there hasn’t been a game but during match threads, he is 9/10 one of the most complained about players 🤷🏻‍♂️

As for Skipp, I've never seen anything from him to suggest he's suddenly going to become a decent player for us. He's been a woeful signing. Couldn't even tell you what it is he's supposed to be good at.

Even El Khannouss himself though - he's a good player but he doesn't score many, and this was also the case in Belgium where he was in a relatively strong team.

Our central midfielder goal tallies are frankly an embarrassment.

Not going to argue that just retaining him will be enough, but how weak will we look if he goes and we don't find someone at least as good to replace him?

Alves doesn't need the pressure of being thrust into the position if we sell and don't replace. I'm all for us playing the young players a lot this season, but without putting so much pressure on them that it stunts their development.

Skipp has become a scapegoat because of the £20m transfer fee. That's not to negate criticism or to make out he's a good signing, but I doubt the level of criticism would be the same if he had signed for a lower fee. Skipp seems to get targeted more because he represents the club's recruitment in recent years, specifically when it comes to the handling of transfers. He's still relatively early into his Leicester career so shouldn't be written off completely in my view. Let's see how he does next season.

I think for the amount we spent you'd hope he'd be an instant starter, possibly even main focus in our midfield, but he's spent more time not starting for us than he has being in the first eleven.

He's not bossing it. He doesn't seem like he's busting a gut to justify his fee when he's on the pitch.

May not be his fault we paid over the odds, but he has to take some responsibility for his performances since arriving.

Still waiting for him to show any sign of being good enough for us, even at Championship level. Folks pointing to one season with Norwich half a decade ago are clutching at straws.

If he was £5mil there would still be a consensus on here that he's not good enough.

If he was cheaper you just wouldnt have the hipsters like yourself saying that the reason people criticise him is because of his transfer fee. Otherwise the reaction to him would be the same. He's not good enough at foofball, plain and simple.

I watched solely him for about 10 minutes when we were under the cosh.

He really is such a meh CM isn’t he?

He doesn’t offer for the ball, nor offer protection of the back 4.

Even his body positioning seems amateurish, as he never looks like he thinks a couple of moves ahead that even Winks offers.

Enzo wouldn’t have touched Skipp with a barge pole.

I'm starting to wonder if he never properly recovered from an injury, or has just been really struggling for fitness since he got here, something like that because his reputation as a busy, all-action, energetic midfielder could not be much further from what you see when you watch him. Even putting to one side the fee, which I think is fair because that's an error on the club's part not his, he just seems to make so little impact with or without the ball. He wasn't done any favours today by Winks who looked incredibly half-arsed pretty much throughout but I think it's a real problem that so many of our midfielders are these safe, plodding types who add almost nothing in terms of creativity, goal threat or solidity.

I think what's disappointed me the most is his lack of bite or press. He was supposed to have a reputation as someone who snaps at heels and makes a pest of themselves, which we've seen nothing of. He's about 5 yards behind play most of the time, which results in him either losing possession or making desperate challenges like the one that led to Koln's penalty.

Seeing him on the same pitch as some of our exciting youngsters really brought home how unathletic he is. He looks hideously unfit, honestly giving me Michael Ball vibes when he was here under Sven.

Is that Michael Ball the singer?

The only reason he is here is that we appointed Cooper completely against our ethos. He wanted Prem experience more than almost any other feature.

We had made quite the success over the years by buying cheap from abroad. Last year we binned that right off.

On paper he made (some) sense. Young-ish, experienced, knew Winks well, had possible resale value if he did well.

But it feels like our scouts and recruitment guys were scrambling to find guys who fitted a completely different brief from the last few years. Not a careful, deliberate, methodical scouting approach but "who can we get that has prem experience, but their team are willing to sell?"

Hence we got Ayew, BDCR and this guy.

Was always gonna be a shit signing, as I posted in this thread when he signed. Can't believe we paid £25m for him, it's sickening.
