A should-have-been assist. Mancini's ball for Izzet against Chelsea in 2001. Floated perfectly on to the very spot Muzzy's head was about to arrive at, and he headed it over. Still one of the greatest balls I've ever seen and I wish I could find highlights of it somewhere.

Excited to see how far these threads can go.

That One Backpass - Phil Gilchrist's expert touch back to Tim Flowers in the FA Cup 4th round 2000 that really took the pressure off the defence.

Another nearly assist from the same season: Junior Lewis tried to trap the ball in the penalty box but instead stepped on the ball, resulting in the ball bobbling up for Akinbiyi, who then took an air shot – before the ball was cleared for a throw-in by a Sunderland defender.

I wonder why Mancini didn't stick around?

It wasn’t an assist because it didn’t end up in goal. But I’ll never forget that first time pass from Cambiasso, if you know you know.

Crazy times. We had some of our best ever players - Izzet, Elliott - playing alongside the likes of Benjamin and Lewis. I sometimes wonder what they thought about it all...

One that sticks in my mind is Albrighton putting an absolute peach in for Slimani at home to West Ham in 16/17. We had someone who was very good at crossing and someone who was very good at heading, and yet that was one of the rare occasions we managed to get them combining to any meaningful effect.
