He is a bad footballer - he’s a winger with 549 apps, 85 goals and 45 assists.

He doesn’t look terrible in that he has a poor touch or really do anything overtly bad but in the aggregate he doesn’t look terrible nothing good.

I hated the signing at the time and he’s been ever more of a hindrance than I expected. Dross

You’re not wrong.

What I meant is, he occasionally has a decent touch and the odd dribble past someone (down a blind alley)…

But, he has absolutely no positive impact on our attack, so why the **** does he play?

He has to come out of the starting 11 to improve us, he won’t though, so ideally we need him to get injured.

Half the battle in the championship is occupying defenders, he doesn’t even do that. Daka might be severely limited as a footballer, but with his pace and movement he will trouble defenders. This then opens up space for your attacking midfielders and wingers… Thus making you more dangerous.

Ayew does none of those things, all he does is hold onto the ball, and this is a major red flag regarding Marti, that he values that more than the ability to trouble defenders.

Part of this is that he is (presumably) there to get the ball higher up the pitch, hold onto it until others join the attack and (get ready for the punchline) lay it off to the other attackers.

Get him off ****ing set pieces, it’s embarrassing.

Most predictable free kick ever.

To think someone said he’d been really good so far this season haha

Looking at the latest pre-match thread it looks like the penny has dropped for most people :)

Jordan Ayew was a dreadful signing, no two ways about it. You look at how smart the promoted sides have been in the market in the PL this season and then compare it to our shambles of recruitment last summer and there's no comparison. We never had a chance. Until Ayew and Daka leave it just feels like they’re draining the life out of watching us play

Schteve Cooper has blood on his hands for that window. What a wasted opportunity to build on the good foundation Enzo had built.

I don't even hate Ayew, I do think he has his uses - namely, hold-up play and acting as a spoiler on the incredibly rare occasion we're ahead and looking to control the game. But I like many others was kidding myself when I said he'd be more dangerous up top in this league. He isn't. He's the Steve Howard you bring on after 70-75 mins to tussle with defenders and win cheap free kicks. I can't even see him making double figures at this rate, which considering he's being treated as our main man at present is laughable for a supposed promotion candidate.

The fact that many are now calling for Daka to start ahead of him shows just how much he's fumbling the bag as first choice striker.

That's an insult to Howard

True, Super Steve is a hero. I just couldn't think of anyone else we've had who has done that sort of role in recent history besides him after we'd been promoted back to the second tier.

I guess Ulloa did similar once Claudio came in... God, just mentioning Ayew in the same sentence makes me feel dirty lol:colder:

It’s why I will never agree with some of the revisionism that Cooper was anything other than a terrible appointment for us.

Enzo may or may not have kept us up but one thing that I can confidently say is that he would have never approved the signings of Ayew, Reid or Skipp.

Nail on the head. We may have been under extreme financial constraints from the owners and PSR but we ended up spending a fair chunk on those three and Odsonne. Particularly the outlay on Skipp. There have been some chinks of light with recent appointments but we can never have a repeat of that window. There is no leeway available if we are to get back on course.

Completely stunk out the game when he came on.  As soon as he got the ball in the middle he would run to where Mavadidi was, ignore the pass and turn towards our goal.

His hold up play is now on corners, which he then over hits.

Another Marti from Marti.  The first game where there has been so much energy and movement from the start. Let’s see if he continues to play the donkey.
