MONGA FALSE 9!

Page Wanks

Bilal

Fatawu Monga Mavididi

If it was good enough for Peps pre-Haaland Citeh then it's good enough for somebody else...  Probably not us though....   Nevermind.

FIFA generation love a flick and step over. He’s young and needs time to adapt to Championship football.

Stats men will tell you football is a simple game. Get the ball into certain positions on the pitch and generate chances etc

Fans get excited by talent, which is understandable.

However how many times have we been here before?

Would say it's the other way, and kids now onto judge people on their stats and not their contribution on the pitch. Can't see Monga scoring loads or assisting tons this season but you can almost guarantee he will cause absolute havoc and be integral in many goals we do score. Or even where he has the oppo doubling up on him (which happened today), creating space on the pitch elsewhere.

Still got a long way to go but as with all young players, it comes down to decision making and his already takes him away from being a prospect to a player that'll make a massive impact.

I see the vision, but this team would have to learn to pass to death to make this work

I am not exaggerating when I say he is the single last reason why any of us are still supporting this football club. Take the excitement of Monga away and there's absolutely nothing decent about this football club in it's current state.

I know we wouldn't walk away, we endured some horrendous years but he and a handful of others coming through the academy are at least temporarily a ray of sunshine.

Will be a joy to watch him next season.

I noticed some little nipper ball boys (actually probably only a few years younger than him!) mobbing him as he walked off around the pitch yesterday after being subbed.

I thought that's the experience he needs too, he's a lad that only a few months ago was sitting with mere mortals in a maths class - he needs plenty more exposure to sycophants so he can get used to the limelight, because boy he's going to need to get used to it as he's undoubtedly going to the very top of the game.

Let's hope he can get at least 1/2 there with us.

I'm excited about him, Alves and Nelson this season I think all 3 are going to big break out years and establish themselves at first team players.

Chuck in the return of Fatawu, pray we keep El Khannouss.

If we can get promoted, we have a load of old guff out of contract and a nice core of younger prospects to build around.

Could maybe add Page to that list ?

Agree on all of that. My comments are a little tongue in cheek but there's also an element of accuracy in terms of what we have been accustomed to in terms of talent and where we've declined.

Monga is the closest, arguably maybe even better than what we've ever seen bar Mahrez.

Page and Aluko look class to me. Just need the experienced players around them to deliver too and not continue the malaise or lack of motivation they've been complicit in.

I’m not disagreeing, but it’s Fatuwa equally for me . His energy and skills  are great. That trick he did yesterday with his left foot to knock it past to his right side of the f b to get past their full back and keep it in play was breathtaking. I’ve tried to watch the ball boy’s expression in the background; it’s like a smile and “wow, how did he do that”.

Was Page ever rated at youth level? Was he one of those tipped to break through?

Barnes, Chilwell and now Monga were always on the radar for the first team. Hamza, KDH less so (KDH always looked like he was destined to be a run of the mill EFL player and then suddenly clicked,)

Where does Page  fit in? Has he suddenly clicked? or was a rise always on the cards?

Yeah, quite stark how few interesting players we actually have. If we can get a couple of youngsters involved then great.

I think the thing is with Monga, if you think about the World Cup or Champions League final, the very top of the game with the most elite players - Page, Alves, Evans, Aluko playing in a team you wouldn't be surprised if they were passengers, which is not to say their potential ceiling isn't high.

With Monga I'd expect him to beat any defender in the world and then the next with a shot or cross almost everytime. This is not over exaggerating - I don't know how you put a value on that ability at such a young age where he's likely to only get better. His centre of gravity is alien like - those shorts hanging down near his knees is just perplexing.

It doesn't matter if you're a 7ft German shithouse defender - he took one for a piggy back before tossing them off like a toy. Give him space you're fu*ked, get tight you're fu*ked.

Just think if you double or treble up on him how much space that's going to create for others and damage the team's overall tactics and shape?

I don't even think trebling up is guaranteed to work either!

I was a skeptic about this guy thinking he was threatening to leave us so we were forced to play him but he’s ready from what I’ve seen so far! Could be a major star and will be big bucks for us if he meets his potential!

Lets hope he can give us a few great seasons first!

Alves is still exciting and has the potential to develop into a solid PL player.

Monga is just another level though, he might already be a PL ready player at 16?

I agree and that’s why it’s important that Marti trims the squad and is ruthless with those that don’t want it or fancy it next season,

Ey, just teasing Ric given how much he used to rave over Alves. I know he was being tongue in cheek about Monga being the only positive but I would say the youth in general that is the case.
