I'm a lot more relaxed now we've beaten Southampton and Bournemouth. A point now isn't a bad result, in the context of the league.

Sounds a lot like coopers timid thinking, why not attack them in both halves play to win not scrape a draw

Aim is 17th. It's important not to get too many points otherwise we might reach 16th or higher and have a complete failure of a season.

Another case of the Evans, fit as a fiddle internationally, knocks ahoy Club level

“Hopefully it will be less than a few weeks for Jannik. He knows his body well. It’s a little bit inconclusive.”

Perfect language for him to suddenly be fit again for Denmark for the next international break and then have another reoccurrence after he comes back

I think they have fallen out or Cooper really doesn’t want to use him

Over-exaggerating an injury was a big 'Cooperism' whilst here. It was basically every week that he'd say someone was out for weeks only to see them in the line up, and vice versa. In fact it got to the point where you basically took anything he said about a player's fitness with a pinch of salt.

There's something slightly fishy about the Vestergaard situation. He was mysteriously absent for us for several weeks after there were media reports about player unrest - the suspicion being that Vestergaard was the source and had been frozen out as a result. Eventually Cooper said that Vestergaard had been injured the whole time, which was a bit odd as usually player injuries are mentioned at the time they occur, not to belatedly explain several weeks of absence. Then the international break comes and he plays twice for Denmark with no issues. The following week he's out of our squad for Southampton, although he was apparently available. Now he's had a sudden reoccurrence of the injury.

A bit odd.

I'm not sure it's the same situation...

I thought this about the injury. Seemed very strange to suddenly say he'd got one when there was no mention of it.

I said a lot of shit about Rodgers, and still do. He deserves all of it. But you could sense the anger in him when Vestegaard did that interview and said he'd been frozen out with no reason by the manager. It clearly wasn't true.

Doesn't feel like a coincidence that the only real effort he's put in to hold down a place was when his contract was coming to an end. Now he's unbelievably got another 3 years the motivation is almost non existent.

Hopefully hes got rid of the Forest air freshener in his car this week

lol Did he actually have a Forest one or was it just a Little Trees one?

Think forest will get at us from the start as we are a completely different team first and second half. If we don't match that we could end up behind again. I'm looking forward to some great atmosphere down there. Derby under the lights. Fu*k yes.

Fair play for meeting and chatting with Cheika.

Different sport but he’s basically the balls on the line sort of coach that Cooper should learn from.

It’s going to be a slug fest and we’re going to have to be patient and to take the chances when they come. They seem very strong defensively but we have players to cause them problems and to produce a moment of magic. Smash and grab again maybe?

Tense night I fear. Be nice to win comfortably like last time in the Prem. Unfortunately, think we might play as normal, a game of two halves, and if we ride our luck, may scrape a win again by the odd goal.

He's full of shite and the only way he knows to get rid of it is talking.

I'd say it was true and he didn't like the fact vesty had said it. Look at all the players he just stopped using or only gave a few games after he signed them.

When he said we had to many players not good enough for the prem. But he'd signed most of them. But forgot to tell everyone the hight of his playing career was Newport on the isle of Wight.

My money is on Vesty telling the truth.

Steve Cooper Pre-Match Press Conference vs Notts Forest

Injuries?

“Jannik had a recurrence of his ankle. That was a setback for him. It shouldn’t rule him out for too long. He got some good minutes with the national team. Apart from that, we’re as we were. Pato has been on the grass and is progressing with his rehab. Hopefully it will be less than a few weeks for Jannik. He knows his body well. It’s a little bit inconclusive.”

Back to back wins?

“Scoring in the last minute painted the headlines, but apart from a poor start, we were the better team. We played well in the second half and we were close to playing well in the first half. Once the game settled, we liked how we played. It’s a good reward for the players. I see how committed they are and there’s no better reward than winning matches, one at home and one away. At Southampton, we were more than good for the win over the 90 minutes. If you look at the main stats, that endorses that. We’re on the right path and the right journey. There are ideas of how we want to play and be together. We’ve shown signs of resilience in coming back. We can’t wait for Friday. We’re playing Forest and it’s a local game. We’re hoping to make it three wins in a row.”

Forest strenghts?

“We just analyse every opponent in terms of how we feel we can play in the game. Our focus is on us. We’re at home and we’re looking at our game and how we can implement our ideas. Forest will be no different. They’ve got a good points return so far. But we’re just focusing on ourselves. That’s what has given us our best moments so far.

“With Chris Wood, they have a goalscorer. They’re creating chances for him and they have good athleticism. Whatever team you play in the Premier League, you can always see what they do well. But we have to back ourselves.”

Emotions about taking on Forest?

“It’s just now all about the club here and the work here. It doesn’t matter who we play now. It’s about the focus here for me and the staff. People that know me will know I stay on task and that I don’t let anything interfere with that.”

Fatawu?

“He did do great at the weekend and it’s the best he’s shown in the Premier League so far. We know he can reach that level of performance. We’d seen signs of it and we definitely see it in training. He took his opportunity. He did change the game. It’s about understanding what he did well and why he did well and then repeating it. Young players have to take opportunities. He did that. It is a step up. He’s a big part of our culture here. He’s very popular with the group.”

Dilemma over team selection?

“A big one. I wish it was as simple as that. Every week I get asked. Last week was Winks. I get that. The reality is you need a squad. It’s more than an 11-man game. There needs to be competition for places. If you’ve not got competition, it’s a dangerous game. It’s just the nature of the job. There will be players on the wrong side of selection that will create questions.”

Only one defeat in five. Two wins. Where you want to be?

“You always want more. Even when we hadn’t won, I knew we weren’t far away. We want more and there’s definitely more to give. We see a lot of good in the performances. But there’s a lot we’re pushing the guys on. They’re so open-minded to learning and that allows you to progress. There will be downs and there will be times I’m sat here after difficult moments. But we have to keep believing in our way.”

Poor starts?

“I’ll continue to say, to win games, you have to do everything right. I’m also make it too much of an issue. It’s always the intention to start games well and we just have to do that better.”

Conceding goals down the right?

“It’s definitely a team thing. We never go down the line of focusing on individuals. It’s something we’re aware of. We’ll face up to all the things we need to improve on.”

Justin v Ricardo?

“You want fans to debate. But we also go through that with team selection. There’s always a question to be asked. It’s just the nature of performance. If every position is as strong as JJ and Ricardo fighting it out, we’d be in a good place and we need to embrace that.”

Difference in owners at Forest and Leicester?

“It’s the anniversary of the very sad moment six years ago. That’s what to discuss if we want to talk ownership. I understand the success the owners have had here because they do that through kindness, support and encouragement. We’ll be paying our respects on Sunday. It's important for me to be part of that in my current position.”

Derby game perfect for a third straight win?

“It’s a perfect game, whether it’s the first or last game of the season. These are games you want to be a part of and not fear. When it’s a night game, it feels like a bigger stage because it’s the only game that day. You can’t fear it. You have to show who you are. Friday can be a great show for that.”

What reception expecting from Forest fans?

“I’ve not thought about that. I did all that in the summer. It’s all about the game. This is why I’ve coached a million sessions, this is why the team fought so hard to get back into the Premier League. It’s about the game and that’s where my focus is. I don’t want to think about anything else. That’s where my mindset is.”

What type of game expecting?

“Both teams have got exciting players and athletic players. It could be a fast game. We want to be the dominant influence in the game. If we can play like we did in the second half against Southampton, we’ll be in a good place. But we have to be aware of their strengths.”

Tigers won East Mids derby recently? Spoken to Cheika?

"I’ve spoken to him a few times because it’s an obvious thing to do and we’re part of a similar leadership thing we do. Regardless of that it comes up naturally in derby games more than others, on or off the field, the build up, natural rivalry that derby games give. It’s recognising that but how you want to perform, there’s no better time to do that than derby games. That’s always the motivation, don’t need to go screaming that in a press conference."

He does speak well to be fair to him
