The lack of width on the right also allows opponents to double up on Mav on the LW, making it harder for him to have an impact. The whole system doesn’t work or get the most out of our best players.

True and I understand those reservations, just find it difficult to ditch what was such a key player the previous season, a season we won the league in some style, and said player was a critical part of that.  But saying that, suppose these are exactly the sort of decisions those with the big bucks are paid to make.

It's not rewriting history at all, it's got nothing to do with how he performed last year. He was fine but we were in the Championship and there was no way he should have been given a new deal, I was very clear about my feelings on that. Not sure what I've been wrong about?

Big game for Hoops. Against the club who still idolise him and put himself in a position where another win suddenly propels his position at Leicester to being somewhat secure and impressive from the outside looking in.

 

Said plenty on why he's not had it easy to start here through peculiar decision making and suspect basic weaknesses but he's a moments manager and it feels like he's set himself up nicely to launch himself in to being truly accepted if he gets another result on Friday.

 

This is where I want to see some bravery from him. His team selection and decision making on Saturday was fine. He made the majority of changes that needed to be made and the acid test will be what he takes away from that. The evolution of this team has to include Fatawu and still maintain the threats of Mavididi and Bounanotte. He's slowly testing us with more creativity in the team with the introduction of El Khannouss too and he can be under no illusion that our strengths lie in attacking rather than containing as we're vulnerable at the back not from aggressively attacking quite strangely. So many goals are coming from low crosses between the bank of 4 defenders and the defensive midfielders.

 

Let them loose Cooper.

Oh for sure, but the contract offer was not made recently, it was done when Enzo was still here and after a very good season. Was hardly a surprising offer.

Just don't get the modern day manager trying to be clever and over complicate tactics to create an overload with ineffective players.

 

Just keep it simple and attack with proper attackers and defend with proper defenders. 

 

Play to the players strength.

That would be my prediction too. Cooper will set up to counter I'd imagine and so will Nuno. We would probably be better off benching someone like Elanga who needs space to run into.

It'll be a grim game if we take the lead as he'll do everything in his power to ensure we sit on the lead and invite you to try and break us down. We find it very difficult to deal with basic patterns of play, usually down the right side of our pitch and teams can easily work low balls in to the box between the bank of defenders and midfielders for the ball to be turned home. See Arsenal's first two goals and both of Southampton's last weekend as recent examples.

 

Hopefully he's learnt our strengths are to continue to be positive regardless of the result as we do have some danger men in Bounanotte, Mavididi and Fatawu.

This one is probably the toughest out of these run of games, especially given how they've started. My view on the rivalry itself comes down to where you're located within the two cities, which is why when they label their entire fanbase as not caring it's just not true. In fairness, would say the majority of Forest fans do see Derby as bigger rivals, but also know about plenty who view this game with the same level of importance. It is of course the 'traditional' rivalry after all. The viewpoints of both @South Notts NFFC and @ForestAreMagic would be interesting unless I've already missed this.

Yes I agree your location can dictate who you 'hate' the most. Notts is a long county and those in the North Nottinghamshire towns like Retford and Worksop are much closer to Sheffield than the city of Nottingham and there's the whole miner's strike history there too.

 

Having lived in several parts of the county and having followed Forest for 40-odd years I'd say if you were to do a poll now amongst every Forest fan you'd find that the large majority see Derby as our biggest rivals and take more joy seeing their demise than any other club.

 

Then there's yourselves, Sheffield United (but not Wednesday), Wolves, Liverpool (for those fans from the 70s/80s) and then I suppose Notts County. I actually like to see Notts do well as it's good for the city generally to have two clubs on the up but some Forest fans would prefer to see them fade into insignificance. Partly due to their hatred towards us and there's also a lack of gratitude there. When County have been in the absolute shite on and off the pitch Forest have made efforts to help them out only for their former fool of a chairman Alan Hardy to try and drum up a rivalry between the clubs by having a pop on twitter, I'm not sure Forest have sent a player on loan there since. Don't bite the hand that feeds you...

 

I do think these things can be dynamic though and a lot depends on circumstances. If Forest and Leicester both spend years playing each other in the Prem that could be the new de facto EM Derby. If County suddenly started doing well and playing us more then a real rivalry might develop there too.

I've said before the borders thing is too much of an easy observation with Leicester v Forest. Derby and Nottingham exist as a two city economy - as a result their games are more like a city derby. Leicester lives as its own self - this makes Leicester v Forest more about regional supremacy rather than the city derby type feel. It all links to how local government, regional news/broadcasting have favoured Nottingham.

Whether either side see each other as rivals and/or have hatred between us or not, there is always an extra edginess to this fixture and being as close to their fans as you can get I'm expecting the atmosphere and confrontation to have extra spice tomorrow night.

 

Forest in the Prem at our place on a Friday night?

These are the fixtures I look forward to the most and, like some others have said, I and my son are going to make a longer day of this one to soak up the added edginess this one brings.

i am surprised it has been allowed on a Friday night, both sets of fans will have a significant proportion that will be intoxicated before the game, asking for trouble. I think the horses will be out tomorrow

Credit where it's due. As a fan base the mind game they play with us is awesome and so many fall for it. They do care about us but the we don't care comment gets under so many skins it's unreal.

I agree and that in general Forest fans do 'care'. Where I think the problem comes from a Leicester point of view is that we don't 'care' as much as some Leicester fans would like us to.

 

Again, I'm generalising as some fans on both sides will feel differently to this. My perspective over the years has been (again, in general) that Forest see Derby as rival #1. Leicester see Forest as rival #1 and want Forest to feel similarly and don't like it when we don't.
