Got too big for his boots. Instead of doing the job he was highly paid to do he became too outspoken and controversial.

Something you don't want from a presenter.

He speaks out against all that’s wrong in the world and that’s a fantastic way to use your platform. You can only ever upset the right type of people.

Well, all "good" things come to an end sooner or later.

I, for one, won't miss him.

Ha, there's a surprise.

Lineker was my boyhood hero and I was devastated when he left us for Everton in '85

I've followed his career with interest ever since and he's always represented Leicester in a good light IMO.

It was never easy taking over from the legend Des Lynam but Linker has been brilliant on MOTD for quarter of a century and it won't be the same without him.

I'm not really interested in his political views. He's a Leicester lad that done good and I'm proud of him.

Agree hes a good presenter and leicester lad.  Couldnt give a toss about his views.  We are all different.

But good as he is, he can't beat the best intro to a live match .......des lynam before england v germany in euro 96 semis......."good evening , you might have heard theres a game on tonight".

Also think BBC will be loving it based on what he's earning...

Alex Scott probably licking her lips at the opportunity...

Don’t know about her lips, maybe someone else’s 😶

But he never did it on MOTD? He did it on his own social media?

Totlaly separate to the programme and BBC?

If he was posting right wing views ,do you think he'd keep his job? Would you support his right to do so?

it isnt, it was clear he broke the rules. He represented the BBC as one of their flagship highest paid presenters. he was warned by his boss

Motd needs a radical overhaul. Gary leaving should give them the opportunity to revamp the whole concept.

First step is to bring a boozy studio audience in. Like a working class question time.

its rubbish really. id much prefer the show chris kamara did on sunday mornings where he went in depth into the games, do that and put it on iplayer

I thought he wasn't everyone's cup of tea because he's a bit of a dick as a person is he not? Isn't that common knowledge?

Like a lot of Leicester people, I know people who've met him/ went school with him and none of them have anything nice to say about him.
