People showing they were not paying attention. I’ve just listened to two podcasts (I get up early on my days in the office): the WYS podcast with Owynn PA, Piper and Iain Wright from the The Fosse Way, then Lineker’s The Rest is Football podcast. In the first, there was a clear consensus that sacking Cooper was the right decision and, if anything, probably slightly overdue. In the second, the consensus was that it was an incredibly harsh decision and that Cooper hadn’t been given anywhere near enough time. A neat little illustration of the stark difference of perspective between those who actually spend a lot of time watching a team vs those who don’t. 19
FLAN Posted 25 November 2024 Posted 25 November 2024 Heard a little bit of 5 live phone in and again so clear these pundits watch very little of the non top 6 games. Saying we’d been doing quite well based purely on table position. I defy anyone to show how cooper had made a single improvement from game 1 to Chelsea. 3

One Arm Babba Posted 25 November 2024 Posted 25 November 2024 It is great news. Blaming officials for getting nothing from a game where you didn’t set us up to compete, is pathetic and symptomatic of cooper. He has been held accountable, as he should be. Whoever the next appointment is, the fan base will not be as divided as with him. This is an acknowledgment that the board made a mistake, and we’ve learnt from the last year of Brendan’s tenure, and not waited until it was too late. 2

Not only had we just appointed the beloved ex Forest manager, but his style of play was non existent to the one the lads did so well with last season... On what planet was that ever going to bring us all together for a relegation scrap... Us fans obviously have our own opinions based on our footballing knowledge, but frighteningly Jon Rudkin is paid very well to make sensible decisions.. this appointment for me is on par with the Rodgers debacle, ridiculous. For me he was brought in with next season in mind. Imo the club thought we were going to get a points deduction and basically have no chance of surviving. They probably thought he would get us back up, but in reality I'm not sure he had a clue what to do with this squad. 1

FLAN Posted 25 November 2024 Posted 25 November 2024 Darren fletcher, glen Murray and Don Hutchison focussing on forest rivalry. Don did at least call out the lack of any effort or system v Chelsea. All these guys need to do is watch the last 4-5 games and they would know everything
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 25 November 2024 Posted 25 November 2024 Pundits and journos are lazy. If they went back to pre-season and watched every game that he’s managed they would not find one game (bar possibly Tranmere 🥴) that we’ve played well in. We have been tactically outthought, overrun and timid in every single game. How we are on 10 points is beyond me - probably deserve to be on 2. I’m happy, and pleasantly surprised, that the board have acted this quickly. Clear to see what direction we were travelling in 1
Popular Post Pliskin Posted 25 November 2024 Popular Post Posted 25 November 2024 Cooper had an impossible job. It’s all well and good outsiders having an opinion, but they will never see the bigger picture. It’s rather unusual in this day and age for managers to be poached by other clubs, especially for us, it’s not happened for a long, long time. So straight away the circumstances are completely alien to this group of players. Ordinarily, managers leave because they’re not going very well, so when a new manager takes over, there can be a lift in the dressing room, be it temporary or long term. Enzo leaving I think is the first major hurdle Cooper had to overcome…. Enzo was loved by the players, they loved his meticulous attention to detail, and they loved his energy and attitude. He was all football, and the lads really embrace that. We seem to undervalue the job he did here, but the reality was the club was on its arse, and regardless of the supposed talent in the team, we were in danger of slipping into the black hole that is the football league. Enzo was able to completely turn that on its head. When he leaves, the next manager has a massive job on their hands, because Enzo is so well respected by the group, you need someone to come in and at least match that energy. Coopers appointment reflected the whole mood of the club, as far as we were concerned we were getting deducted points, which is always going to reduce the potential of getting a manager in able to match what Enzo did. Cooper was starting his managerial career here on a bike with no gears at the bottom of a mountain…… to be fair on him he never stood a chance. The players just never took to him, like I said he never lost the dressing room, because he never really had it….. it was an almost impossible job for him, but whilst we were still facing a points deduction it made sense….. he was appointed for damage limitation, and that’s very much how he operated, but I think the biggest problem for him was the players just didn’t buy into him, and that’s never going to be a base for success. Now the situation has changed, we need to ensure we get it right. Whether they decide it’s survival first, plan for the future later, or look to bring in a progressive forward thinking manager straight away, and risk it not working. What I will say is, I genuinely believe there’s enough in this team to survive, we’ve proven we can score goals, we just need someone to come in and ensure there’s a clear plan and method, and maximise the potential in the team. 15

No seriously I've called for Top to show a pair or sell up. .the fact this hasn't gone full Brenda and dragged on I appreciate and applaud. Not even that fussed who the next bloke is. Just glad they have acted and we can't be much worse even if I was given the job. I'm not getting these reactions. This just proves how useless our owner is. Waste 2 whole weeks then sack the manager and people think it's good news. All this does for me is prove how useless the club management are 1

All this does for me is prove how useless the club management are You can’t just make this assumption….. there may be a reason to why top has made the decision now. We all sit here and say that he should have done this two weeks ago, yes he should, however, Top isn’t solely the owner of this club, he is also running a large business along side this and his time is split between the two… Perhaps it was as simple as, he wanted to gauge the mood of the dressing room himself prior to making a decision. Also the potential target, I know the club have been sounding out potential replacements so potentially the prospected target has only just said yes to any propositions. The preferred method would have been to sack him two weeks ago and the new manager have two weeks to work with the team, but the world and football isn’t that simple. 1

ARM1968 Posted 25 November 2024 Posted 25 November 2024 Cooper must have known he was on thin ice. Our performances have been appalling. We’ve gained points despite them, not because of them. Absolutely no structure, cohesion or apparent identity. Arguing with players. Blaming officials. The man was just not up to it here. Wish him well for the future, just not with us. 2
