Maybe it;'s us who are in for a 'Ruud awakening'

Top left instructions to recruit the famous Dutch striker and Rudkin is in the process of hashing out a six year contract with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

These pundits obviously don’t watch our games. There’s two things in play. 1) Our points tally is more than we have deserved. 2) Our performances have been way less than this team is capable of.

If Ruud can get a note out of Mavi, Soumare, Facundo, Bilal and Daka, then we will stay up and comfortably.

I have literally no opinion on this, aside from it feels underwhelming and once again Rudking/Top going for the easiest option. A well known name in football that has applied for the job.

All i can see is that since he left PSV they have improved.

Anyone have any deeper insight into him as a coach/manager?

Totally agree. We have have gone for a 'name' that has links to 'united' thinking it will be a statement to the fans and the league. RVN has got very little coaching experience,  including none in the Prem other than 2 of the easiest games in the league and Cup you could get against comfortably the worst team in the league ar the minute - us - and his man management skills have proven to be lacking with his history at his short stay at PSV. If you can't command respect from your players then you are in an uphill struggle from the off. I hope this is not another knee jerk appointment 😑  personally I would have rather taken the same chance on an upcoming manager who may not have prem experience but has shown the abilities to become a successful one. I would have paid the compo for Corberan - but it's not my money!

I'm not disputing how much better Brighton are behind the scenes. However, Potter was still a huge gamble. Especially given the backlash they'd received from the media for sacking Hughton.

If clubs make sportive decisions based on how they will be perceived, then they're a lost cause anyway. Especially given that people's attention spans mean that any outrage lasts for about 12-24 hours before the next outrage comes along.

I'd argue he wasn't a gamble as they had a philosophy in place. Then based on research and talking to Potter the club decided they were a good fit.

It's like deciding to cross the road when the lights are on red. Logically it makes good sense, but you could call it a gamble, on the off chance that some lunatic could speed through the reds.

My example is exactly the same, don't question it

Pundits watch 2 mins highlights a week of our games if we’re lucky and look at the league table and that’s all they go on.
Says it all when Clinton Morrison said Cooper was a top coach and Merson said RVN was poor at PSV despite finishing second and winning 2 trophies.

Jonny Evans reveals Ruud van Nistelrooy 'obsession' that could fix big Leicester City problem
The former captain, now at Manchester United, spoke in September about the impact the Dutch coach had on the team when he joined Erik ten Hag's backroom staff

Incoming Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is “obsessed” with defensive structure, the club’s former captain Jonny Evans has said.

Van Nistelrooy is set to become the new City boss and one of the tasks he will immediately face is to tighten the team up at the back. They’ve conceded the third-highest number of goals so far this season and only kept one clean sheet.

But while Van Nistelrooy was all about goals when he was a player, and with his PSV team renowned for their attacking play rather than their defensive strength, Evans says organising a back-line is the Dutchman’s big focus. Indeed, the one team to stop City scoring in the Premier League this season was Van Nistelrooy’s United, albeit that was perhaps as much to do with their own poor attacking quality as the Red Devils’ solidity.

Speaking to FourFourTwo in September after a couple of months working with Van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford, Evans said: “He was a deadly striker and for him to pass on his knowledge straight away meant he had everyone’s respect immediately. Joining United is a great move for him and for the club.

“He seems very open and wants to improve people. You can see that he’s early enough in his career that he’s hungry to do well and pass on his abundance of knowledge. He’s quite obsessed with defensive structure.”

Van Nistelrooy’s standing in the game should earn him plenty of respect from the City players. The squad were always impressed by Enzo Maresca’s commitment and addiction to the game, and that’s something Van Nistelrooy shares, Harry Maguire believes.

The former City defender said: “Ruud is an excellent coach. You can tell that he’s addicted to football. He loves analysing the game. I’ve been really impressed by his ideas.”

Always a bit nervy until we get things over the line at this club :sweating:

Hopefully the holdup is our creatives deciding what cheesy reveal video to use

It’ll be him barging into seagrave, not holding the door open for the person behind him, aggressively brushing shoulder against Rudin walking the opposite direction who is knocked aside, taking a teacake from a little old lady with a trolley without saying thanks, then kicking the next door open with his boot leaving a muddy footprint on it. As the door closes in the camera mans face because he again refuses to hold the door open “THATS RUUD”. Fin.

Wait, this hasn't even been made official yet? lol

I assumed it had as everyone was talking about it like it was a done deal haha.

Percy, Fab and even the BBC have said it's essentially done pending an announcement.

Pretty obvious it's Ruud at this point. People just expect the club to announce new signings within ten minutes of journalists reporting on them and start freaking out.

The BBC in particular pretty much never write a story until something is 99% done.

There was not much evidence then that Brighton were as competent as LCFC were at the time with how we were viewed.

We've got to restart again somewhere.

I agree, but if it works out i think it will be more luck than judgement. we still have the same nobheads making the decisions. granted, this quick decision regarding cooper is a good sign

I would love a cup run, to tell the truth. (As long as we stay up, of course!)

Aye they need to get the new shirt sponsor signed so they can sneak that in on the back of his announcement.

“So there’s the contract as agreed, you just need to sign there”

”Before I sign there’s nothing I need to know about? No controversies to come out? Nothing illegal going on or financial irregularities that may impact PSR or our transfer finances?”

”Errrrr… well… errrrr… nope!”

It is thought Van Nistelrooy is currently at his home in the Netherlands, but his appointment could be confirmed quickly (whatever quickly means)
