Shame I gave my 06-08 Netherlands shirt with Van Nistelrooy on the back to a charity shop

Go back.

Chances are they still have it.

To the tune "let's all have a disco"

That’ll make him feel right at home

Welcome Ruud! You're in for one hell of a job

Needs backing in January

This. We need 2-3 defenders in Jan and possibly someone on loan to fill the Fatawu hole. I'd also be tempted to bin Edouard and bring Cannon back if we have a recall clause. Shame Nelson is injured as I'd have recalled him as well, would rather him than Faes right now

Let's be honest, if he wasn't Ruud Van Nistelrooy the player no one would be calling for him. He falls into the double whammy of legendary player and recent caretaker manager at a big club.

- Scored a lot of goals 20 odd years a go.

- "Knows" the league.

- Recently dressed and spoke well during a 'can't lose' interim period at United.

You just know Top has been drawn in by those things, but they mean very little and so often they are a trap.

On the plus side though, he will bring with him some excitement, energy and a bit of a spark. We really need that right now.

Let's see what he can do. The biggest thing was getting rid of Cooper, let's buy into what Ruud brings, it literally cannot get any worse than what has been served up so far and by sheer luck we are still out of the relegation places.

He’s played football at the highest level same as Enzo as well.. yes it’s a gamble but at least he’s won a trophy or two.

I imagine the reaction to RVN among the players will be "Oh wow, Van Nistelrooy is our manager!" Rather than 6 months ago when it was more likely "Meh, Cooper".

It's so much more likely that they'll give it all, so much more than they did for Cooper

Being managed by a manager who has played for Bangor Town is indeed Meh! lol

This is where I'm at. I wish him all the best (obviously). I'm just a bit concerned it's got a touch of the Lampard / Paulo Sousa about it in that he's a big name with not much actual management experience. I think it's a bit risky at this point.

I hope he makes me look an absolute mug.
