Seems clear to me the tactics 4-4-2 compact defending, 3 box 3 he said in pre match v West ham so 3-4-3.

Likes a mid block can go to a low block if needed Mads is a great keeper to have as that sweeper keeper when the ball gets played in the space left behind from a mid block.

Mads

Justin

Coady

Vestegaard

Okoli

Winks

Skipp

Buonette

Mavididi

Daka

Vardy

Justin pushes up in possession as hes more athletic, against the better teams Kristiansson plays as I think he's more defensively stable but offers less going forward. Ndidi can come in for Skipp if we are playing a more Physical team, Soumare gets a fresh chance to show those glimpses he's shown for maybe less than 2 hours combined in his whole Leicester career. Get more attacking players on the pitch create more chances, but respect when are playing (far far) superior opposition which is probably once a month on average between now and the end of this season that you won't have as much possession pragmatism is needed.

In summary Attacking where possible but pragmatic and realistic where needed which has been missing for most of the last 2 years. Last season was great, Enzo done some good work, but it hard to know how much of that was the player quality and how much was tactics, I'd probably say 70% player quality 30% tactics.

Also looks like a lot of time will be spent on the training pitch in defending 1v1 positions as well as the compact unit of the team.

On the basis that Kristiansen won’t play the role, and Justin can’t play the system, I think he could go with:

4-4-2:

Hermansen

Choudhury

Faes

Vestetgaard

Okoli

Goodnite

Ndidi

Winks/Skipp

Mavididi

El Khannouss

Vardy

3-box-3:

Hermansen

Faes

Vestetgaard

Okoli

Choudhury

Winks/Skipp

Ndidi

El Khannouss

Goodnite

Vardy

Mavididi

The obvious problems with playing this way (the way we did last season) are;

- We currently don’t have Ricardo or a Doyle replacement (Kristiansen doesn’t want to play the LCB ‘staying back FB role’)

- We currently don’t have Abdul

- We probably don’t have the quality we need to play this way in the Prem !

Going to be interesting, for sure

4-4-2 is just the pressing shape off the ball.

On the ball he likes the ‘3 box 3’. This is essentially what we had last year with a more defensive full back forming a 3 with the other tucking in like Ricardo did.

The two 6’s and two 8’s form the box.

Isn't Thomas a better bet than Kristianson at LB? Apparently he played less worse than many of the team on Saturday, and is likely to improve with more game time and with an "arms round the shoulder" manager to improve his confidence.

Many on here complain about our failure to pass out from the back and construct attacks ... I thought when Thomas was playing well for us back in the day he had a very good passing ability.

The player he was when he first came into the team, is completely different from the player he is now, unfortunately. Did ok on Saturday, considering.

That's how Enzo achieved that shape but Van Nistelroy usually achieves the same shape in a different way.

Instead of having the RB move into the CM role, he would have him move to the RW position with the RWer move in beside the 10 to complete the box alongside the two deeper midfielders.

Where Enzo's way probably is more suitable to the defenders we have now,  I think Ruuds way would suit the attacking players more with Facundu tucking in alongside Bilal. The only question would be, who plays that RB role?

It's bizarre that VK is not keen on the LCB role. For me he is more suited to that than being a wing back or attacking full back. He's relatively fast and a decent one on one defender but not great going forward.

Isn't this exactly what Cooper was doing and it didn't seem to work? Maybe with better coaching it could work but I'm not sure that we have anybody in the squad good enough to play the role expected of the RB.

What the hell is a 3 box 3 😂

See my post above with a link to a tactical article, but a picture saves a 1000s words.

But this would be 4-box-2 ?

This sounds good to me. Tbf, Justin could play that role quite well
