You don't get to be a Belgian international and called up to the England squad...

That would seem like a massive administrative error to be honest.

I know it's not a popular opinion at all here at the moment but I think these belong in the potential to be good enough category.

They have the raw materials but they need to be part of a well coached and well organised defence and both need to be settled and confident.

We've seen JJ be an excellent contributor to good Leicester teams winning good games. I don't buy the notion that he's crocked, the same guy is there he just seems very heavily influenced by coaching.

Even Faes has had some good performances and shown promise in a Leicester shirt but his mistakes absolutely snowball like crazy when his confidence isn't there.

I'd prefer it if we could replace them mid to long term with more robust and less accident prone options but I do feel they're the pantomime villains a little bit at the moment to an extent that's getting a tiny bit unfair.

Justin yes because he's proven in a big stretch of games, where he was playing every position in defence, that he can be outstanding at this level. However, that was a long time ago and doubt he'll ever get back to that level (much like Ndidi and Ricardo), but some confidence and he should definitely be capable of doing the job we need of him right now.

Faes however, no chance. He makes a big mistake in virtually every game he plays and has done, when his job is just be steady above all else. He's also got a massively inflated ego so shipping him out as soon as we can, would be ideal.

For me he cannot keep anyone here that was a part of the Cooper regime.

Dawson has to go.

It's quite evident that the whole club has a terrible attitude problem and it needs to be dealt with.

I carved the squad up in to the following:

More than good enough:

Ayew

Ayew is definitely not more than good enough if he's starting games, which keeps happening

I'm going to stick my neck out here and defend Dawson.

He's a highly respected youth team coach and has also had a spell as a technical director.

He was brought in by the club as piss poor planning meant we sacked all of our 'club coaches' and replaced them with Enzos team. All clubs need a coach who is there to aid transitions between managers.

He's never managed a senior game of football in his life (on his own), and was thrown in against a team who could beat anyone at home and score for fun.

The line up was horrendous and the tactics didn't work, there's no escaping that, but there's absolutely no way we should be sacking someone based on taking charge of one game and having no one around to support him.

This is, as with many of the decisions, on the clubs head.

I hope he stays on, we could make use of him as a technical director or back at what he does best as a coach of young players.

You defending a Geordie who was involved with Newcastle?! I refuse to believe it

I wouldn't say your sticking your neck out, it's a sensible post.

He's built a career around developing players, it's a completely different remit to managing a first team in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

As you say tactics and setup were poor, but I imagine he was working with a group of players who potentially didn't want to give their all for him that day either. One of those days we just have to move on from.

Interestingly, once we saw the early team leak on here i felt this straightaway. Made me feel there was some clear descent in there that didn't respect the lineup.

Interesting insight into RVN's attention to detail and tactical astuteness.

While I do like these they even make the likes of Nathan Jones, Jesse Marsch and Edin Terzic look like tactical geniuses.

He was supposed to be caretaker not kamikaze manager.

His set us up and team selection were totally ridiculous.

I appreciate the role was way above his pay grade but he should have either turned it down or done a better job.

There has to be accountability and he shown complete and utter incompetence.

I appreciate he's not the only one and possibly it does feel like scapegoating but we have to have better people than him at the club if we are going to start and progress.

Personally think due to falling out between his ‘great friend’ Maresca and club, RVN didn’t want to come here in Summer despite being approached. But things have mellowed and literally the Maresca call was less a’how is it at Leicester’ but more ‘do you mind if I take the job?’.

“What I’m thinking about any game is how to win it. And if you’re playing one of the bigger teams or lower ranked teams, that might look different. I’m not a romantic manager who puts style in front of results.”

He speaks well.

Top has gone home by the way, find it quite odd he's not going to be there for Ruud's first game to be honest, especially after being here for this long anyway.

He’s obsessed with betting, polo and horses.

City is just an inconvenience to him now. Needs to sell up.

RvN apparently approached us about the job when Maresca left, but for whatever reason the club decided to go for Cooper instead. Presumably he must have made a decent impression, though, given the club went back to him when they decided Cooper's goose was cooked...

Manuel: Which horse I know nothing?

Basil Fawlty: My horse, nitwit!

Manuel: Your horse - Nitwit.

Basil Fawlty: No-no-no. Dragonfly.

Manuel: It won!

Basil Fawlty: Yes, I know!

Manuel: I know it won, too!

Basil Fawlty: What?

Manuel: I put money on for you. You give me money; I go to betting shop.

Basil Fawlty: Yes, I know, I know, I know.

Manuel: Then why you say I know nothing?

Basil Fawlty: Look, look, look, you know the horse?

Manuel: Uh, Nitwit or Dragonfly?

Basil Fawlty: Dragonfly! There isn't a horse called Nit... YOU'RE the Nitwit!

Manuel: What is Witnit?

Basil Fawlty: It doesn't matter. Look, it doesn't matter. Oh, I can spend the rest of my life having this conversation. Now, please, please, try to understand before one of us dies.
