We tried that with Rodgers.

We had a lot of success under Rodgers doing it his way.

You could argue, it was exactly when Top and Rudkin started taking back some control from Rodgers, that things dramatically fell apart, in regards to the transfer market at least.

I’m not a fan of Rodgers though and can see his part in the downfall too.

I still feel we need a new direction and leader, and the likeliest way we can do that, is through a control freak Manager that has enough experience and confidence, for Top and Rudkin to take a back seat.

Walked.

Really hope this is the case, I also hope he has walked without a severance package and therefore not constrained by an NDA as I would love for him to give an honest appraisal of what he was promised and what is actually going on at the club.

if he has walked with a negotiated settlement then highly likely it will all get swept under the carpet yet again …….

That's what I've heard from someone who's in the media, (albeit a runner on a rather controversial radio show) and that those answers last night to the media were pretty astounding and concrete.

I think we all just want it to be over.

EDIT: When I saw controversial radio show, I mean broadcaster.

Wait, what signings did Rodgers make that were good? Didn't he bring in his own head of recruitment too? How was this taking power from him?

I seriously doubt that we're the only club to have paid out more in wages than we received in income!

There’s no benefit to anyone in prolonging this…if he has walked then it’s the best decision he’s made since the day he arrived.

If he walks, they don’t have to pay him compensation I’m guessing?

he would get 1% admiration back from me if so

Was it not kinda the opposite?

The model of signing young and upcoming / unknown players and selling them for big profit 2-3 years later was somewhat dismantled under Rodgers. Under Rodgers we began prioritising 'PL experience' - see Perez, Bertrand, Vestergaard type signings - and got a really poor return on investment. Under Rodgers, much of our sports science, physio and analytics departments were gutted and realigned too.

Indeed it was. He brought in Congerton and it all went tits up quickly afterwards.

I think both your points have merit.

As an outsider.looking in, the club seemed to quietly try to wrestle transfer control back from Rodgers with the Daka and Soumare window. Rodgers made it quite clear he never fancied Soumare.

Both signings have been a disaster, but I kinda get the logic of how they were identified and why they were bought.

Yeah but I wouldn’t buy that. They may have “encouraged” him to walk by offering him a financial settlement

Player revolt I'm hearing. Not sure where that leaves Ruud.

(also, Netflix are Following Vards around this season for their documentary. What a shit season for it)

I'm not the most well connected and wouldn't say I'm completely "in the know" but I have friends and family in the game and they repeatedly told me this at the start of the season.

When cooper got sacked, they have very good connections with forest and they said he was told the expectation is 10-12th and then push for Europe the following season. The delusion at the top is off the scale.
