Our transfer record over the last 5 years has been abysmal. Even since Glover has come in we've signed Souttar, Coady, Skipp, Okoli, Kristiansen for around £70mil. It just awful and something needs to change fast about the amount we are spending and the quality of players we are bringing in otherwise we are going to be in a right mess very soon (if we are not already in one).

3/4s of our recruitment in has been bench warmers at other teams.

How are teams like Brighton, Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford finding players to keep them mid table and above.

The club doesn’t have an outright transfer policy. Some signings are the recruitments teams, some signings are the managers suggestions (or their agent contacts book), some are names put in front of Rudkin by agents.

You can have Walsh back or Macia back. Unless there’s a clear outright strategy. You are going to end up with managers insisting on signings like Skipp. And sometimes it’s a success and sometimes it’s a disaster.

We are ran in such an old fashioned manner. Lots of clubs have three or four people at a senior level to run the football operations, we have a hierarchy of one into one

Hard work and graft I'd imagine, which comes from within an atmosphere of accountability.:dunno:

Brighton have Tony Bloom analytics stuff that helps with transfer targets, they are always updating lists of targets etc

im not sure regards Bournemouth but theyve found gems in the markets, think thats partly cos of RIchard Hughes(hes gone liverpool now)

Brentford was sort of the moneyball way but theyve slowly got a decent network scouting wise,

as for Fulham, they dont really find players if you look at them and their team, they are getting decent players who are performing incredibly well

our clubs problem, we dont tape into certains markets, asia/south america for example.....we seem to have a massive hard on for the european market

Rudkin was never going to have someone as strong minded and more experienced as Walsh was as a direct report

Could happily go on a rant at how shit our recruitment has been over the years, but after today I cba.

The only thing that needs to be said, is the fact that signing only one defender in the summer was yet another incompetent disgrace.

He was poor at Everton and I don’t even know where he went after that. Was it just a good run here and not something sustainable?

He was but I’m sure there were a few stories where they ignored his advice. Primarily when he recommended them to buy Erling Haarland.

Could be worse. We could have spent £1b on defenders like Manchester City

And he recommended Maguire and Robertson before their moves to us and Liverpool

Maybe it isn’t on the recruitment team, but the people holding the purse strings to spend money?

We’ve only got to look at Lookman, which was a no brainer at £12m, when you consider what we spent on others.

Couldn't afford to get him due to FFP.  We needed a defender to replace Ffona, sadly we still do

We spent £90mil on the defenders/goalkeepers in our squad yesterday. I'm not sure Man Cit's defence is any worse value for money.

My ratings on signings past 3 seasons -

24/25 Season

Skipp - 5/10

Bilal - 7/10

Fatawu - 8/10

Okoli - 5/10

Ayew - 5/10

Golding - 4/10

BDCR - 4/10

Edouard - 2/10

Buonanotte - 8/10

23/24 Season

Winks - 7/10

Cannon - 5/10

Coady - 4/10

Hermansen - 9/10

Mavididi - 7/10

Fatawu - 9/10

Akgun - 7/10

Casadei - 6/10

Doyle - 6/10

22/23 Season

Faes - 6/10

Souttar - 4/10

Kristiansen - 5/10

Tete - 5/10

Smithies - 0/10

So based over the past 3 seasons we have made 2 VERY GOOD permanent signings in Fatawu and Hermansen (Maybe Bilal), who could have a very good future with us or make the club a very tidy profit!

That’s bonkers though when you think about it.

We should always look at potential with the ability to sell on for profit.
