I am convinced that Top is trying to tank the club. He hasn't got the minerals to sell it up so is letting it slowly die. Legitimately, what the **** is going on? Literally no communication from the board since Top's statement when we got relegated. What's the plan? Who's the manager going to be? Are they ever going to sack Rowett?

You’re giving him far too much credit.

 

That would require a level of planning and competence that he doesn't have.

 

The club isn’t declining because of some grand plan - it's in the pits because he hasn't got a ****ing clue what he's doing.

He's just not his dad. That's his crime. That and not recognising it perhaps. 

I don't think it's intentional, I think he's trying, I just don't think he's a good businessman or football leader. The same reason king power brought in a real leader and pushed him into a ceremonial role.

There is no way something like this happens and continues to happen organically. This is not just about business decisions or knowledge. Normally there would be some urgency from people who are employed to steer the ship. There would be input from experts. There would be statements or something to show people you care. Movement of some kind. A change in policy or attitude compared to previous years.

 

Top has intentionally removed anyone of that mindset and has, it seems, demanded to be the one in charge. He is not trying. Trying would be saying, ‘look you guys who know about football, sort this out and sort it out quick’.

 

The charity match propaganda is further evidence that everything is about saving face and not about trying your best for the football club. It’s intentional. Stop sympathising with this guy, to treat this club with such a lack of care suggests he’s not a good bloke. He may look like an overgrown child but he’s a grown man with no respect.

Vichai got bloody lucky as well.

 

We weren’t well run with him around either, he just just got more of the run of the green as Pearson, Walsh and Shakespeare guided us through better than chopping / changing has done.

 

You only have to look at the poor recruitment in 16/17. 
 

Puel for all his wrongs, would make an excellent Director Of Football as whilst he was as exciting as watching paint dry, he did help revive us.

Not sure I fully agree. We absolutely were well run as a club, even if he himself didn't always make sound football decisions.

 

Vichai did get lucky to an extent but he definitely made things happen to ensure he got lucky. You can't argue that he had a vision and sculpted an identity that saw the club reach heights it hadn't for 20 years. Clubs don't go up and stay up based solely on luck.

 

He also made difficult decisions when he needed to and his ruthlessness has been sorely missed. There's no way he doesn't sack Rogers early. No way does Rudkin get away with failure for this long. No way does the club continually let expensive players walk away for free etc etc.

 

He built a proper culture at the club where respect was a non-negotiable. King Power and Leicester are both much worse off without someone like him leading them.

 

He left the football to other people but made sure that things ran well. If there were snags in the chain then he would notice and act upon it. We don't have this level of authority and responsibility amongst the higher ups at the club now.

I think it's somewhere in the middle of him being both fortunate, but personable enough to at least keep it a 'happy' club (can't think of a better way to describe this). I don't think you can describe the whole operation as being that well run because there were plenty of cockups during his time as well.

 

I flip-flop a lot on him. I hear the likes of Pearson really talk him up and think there has to be something to it. But we were definitely pretty lucky as well.

Yes; I’ll agree with this in fairness. 
 

Reflecting on what @AKCJ typed as well, you do make an element of your own luck and he did build a competent team around him. 
 

People always spoke highly of Susan Whelan as well, who was a Vichai appointment.

Well if its accepted he hasnt got a clue, then it doesnt matter how much he wants to fix it, we will just see failure.  
Also when I say fix it, he probably sees the problem that needs fixing as a different problem, which is again about his lack of ability and decisiveness.

I expect the fix for top is "we promote".
