We're also going to make a hell of a lot more in sales than he thought we would. So not all as doom and gloom as he was saying.

it might also mean he will want some of that transfer money back, if it was his own personal money..

Nelson and Fatawu. He only said we'd make money for Fatawu and didn't think Top would stump anything up. Was all guess work of course like all this is off the supposed experts.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying everything is all rosey. Far from it. Just think the situation is redeemable. They don't have many more seconds chances though.

From what I understand there was money ringfenced in our last budget to cover the impact of relegation, something like £100-200m

A second season in league 1 if it happened would likely put us right in the poo

Not sure if it's been reported anywhere else but Charlie Methven has confirmed that Top has placed the requisitie cash in to the club to meet the SCMP protocols.

He's an Oxford fan with scars from what's happened to them in the past but he sounded very concerned about them last week. They've only got two years left in their stadium as it's been sold to housing developers, keep getting kicked back on their new stadium and their owner failed to do what's been said here. They could be in the shit.

Why’s this news to anyone?

I genuinely don’t think the owners financially can sustain or more accurately have the desire to sustain the Club for more than one season in League One so naturally they of course are going to look for back up options ie putting the feelers out there for potential interest if promotion doesn’t happen.

They aren’t seeking to sell imo, just testing the waters.

Unless of course an offer is made that cannot be refused, anything is for sale in that scenario

There's a fair bit of assets if someone wants to come in and turn us into a fully fledged L1/L2 club. Seagrave and all the land around the stadium which would no longer be wanted and ripe for asset stripping to make a profit on.

Sounds like the decision has been made to sell the club, you don't go into these processes lightly as there will be a monumental effort needed from those inside the club and external advisors over the next 6 months.

Wonder if anyone can get hold of a CIM lol

There will be a monumental burning of documents and deleting of electronic history. Probably been hard at it for a few years hence them not realising what league we are in.

They'll probably value the club at about £500m.

Tbf, their asking price won't be what demands the most of a potential buyer.

If someone wants to come in and properly right the ship, get rid of the Macquarie obligations that are killing us off, pay off the transfer debt we owe, get us properly climbing in the right direction again then they're going to need to be really ****ing wealthy.

The kind of wealth that makes whatever Top wants for the club probably irrelevant.

As shit as he is as an owner I'm still terrified of a sale. I can still see us going to some parasite hedge fund.
