Think Coady is a lot to blame for the second goal. Hes 2 yards deeper than anyone else in an otherwise perfect line.

Can’t fault the effort but they had won 1 in 13 and turned us over. There aren’t any ‘free hits’ or games which we don’t need to win.

I can’t see how we stay up tbh. We need 2 January signings to make a big impact, if not then we’re down.

West Ham are atrocious and Lopetegui is an awful manager. They've lost Antonio for months and their only other strikers are Ings and Fullkrug. If we can get decent full backs in, maybe even an experienced CB we can scrape enough points to do it.

I’m sorry but that’s just not true that we barely laid a glove on them. We controlled large parts of the game and set up several chances that we should have converted.

Man City were very lucky to get out with all three points, especially after two posts, a goal line clearance, and a golden chance flubbed by Vardy.

We played them tough and we were successful in imposing our tactics, we just couldn’t finish.

That's fair if you think that, I don't really disagree with with your points either. I personally feel we could have created far more and higher quality chances given their absolutely kamikaze style defending.

I can really see why their form is so bad. They're fairly toothless going forwards and gift you the entirety of their half to attack into. Their run of games coming up are insanely tough as well.

It’s wild. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that much talent play with such little confidence before.

I agree, it was frustrating not to do better against such a sagging side. But I guess they’re still Man City and still very dangerous, as they showed during our two defensive lapses.

I've just now remembered Vardy's chance from 6 yards out. How the hell did he not score that or even test the keeper lol

It really does feel like they've been given a heads up about punishments as they just seem to be going through the motions.

We’ve got no chance of catching them IMO, already 9 points ahead of us on 23. They need 4 wins and a couple of draws to see them safe, and they’ve got 19 games left.

in that situation he only has to follow in to clear any loose ball away not mark someone

He did, it’s just he was further away from the ball than Savinho because he was marking Bernardo.

There should have been a midfielder tracking back, Justin had two players to mark; the spare one beat him to the rebound.

I’m surprised by how happy everyone seems to be with that.

Yes we resembled a football side. We did play better and created some good chances as well as not facing 20+ on our own goal which is the standard we have come to expect.

But Man City were absolutely awful. The worst side I have seen apart from us. That is the worst Man City side I have seen since they were taken over. There is a reason they had only 1 win 13. It wasn’t just an off performance from them, that is them now. Everyone else has been taking results from them so whilst they might have made us look good, they still won at ease.

Again we treat the opposition on reputation. We are happy that we huffed and puffed and had some chances against a side everyone else is getting a result from. Sure, it was much improved from us but does not change the fact we are nailed on for the drop.

I think you've answered everything in your last few words. There's a reason we aren't winning games......'we are nailed on for the drop'.

I think most of realise, we are going down.

Yep that was basically Burnley from last season.

Can't believe Coady for the 2nd goal, his starting position on Haaland was good and then just decides to run away from him and mark a near post space as the cross is played.

We are clearly not ‘nailed on’ for the drop. That sentiment may reflect the state of your mind, but it does not describe reality. We are in a perilous position, obviously, but we’re within touching distance of the two teams above us and survival is very possible from where we are. It’s just as ludicrous to talk of relegation being a certainty as it was when people were predicting - apparently sincerely  - that we’d get battered 6-0 yesterday.

The reason people are encouraged by yesterday is that there were very clear signs of progress. It was obvious that the work RVN has been doing on the training ground is starting to translate onto the pitch. We had a clear shape and a game plan, neither of which were much in evidence under Cooper. At times we put together some very good passages of play. This is progress - and if it continues, we have a chance of staying up. I get that it might be less stressful to just assume we’re down rather than deal with the anxiety that comes with hope, but I reckon we’ll pick up enough points to be still with a shot at survival at the end of the season. The next 19 games are going to be an emotional rollercoaster.

I did see all the things you describe. As I say, we looked a lot better.

What I need to see is whether we can do that against the likes of Fulham and Palace in our next two homes games in January who will provide stronger tests than that Man City side.

It feels weird to say as prior to the start of the season, you’d take that yesterday as it’d not be a game that you would expect or target points from as a newly promoted team aiming for survival. Things change though and they were appalling. With that and being turned over by Wolves last week, I think that was an opportunity that we should have taken if we were serious about survival so whilst it may have been a big improvement, given the opposition, it doesn’t give me any more indication that we can get out the bottom 3.

For me, there’s still a big gap between us, Ipswich and Southampton and those above. It’s hard to see anyone else being seriously in the conversation come the season end.

Coady being a vocal leader is such a myth. I mean he’ll scream and shout encouragement all day but is useless at being an actual leader, especially in the back line. The goal last week v Wolves, no structure to the defence. The first goal this week, same thing.

I don’t want a cheerleader if he plays. I want leadership in how we set up and I don’t think he has that.

You cant really blame JJ for the goal today, He was marking the more immediate threat. If anyone was to blame it was Facundo for not doing the defensive side and tracking back.

Had MaAteer been playing I would have expected to see him marking the Winger. Something he's been getting better at in recent games he's played in.

Yeah & he would have given us absolutely nothing going forward, he's championship level, Goodnight isn't as Spurs rumoured £35m offer tells us

Agree. They were playing with fear and we cut through them repeatedly. Has to go down as a missed opportunity, too many people clouded by the fact it was Man City like we should be happy the team turned up. Absolute loser mentality

Surprised some are criticising Mavididi. If we are saying we played well. Everything good in that second half came down Mavididi side. He put it on a plate for Vardy as well. He isnt going to run through defenders like he did last season but as a performance, he was good.

firstly, where did that performance come from?

secondly, vestegaards through balls were top class, however we need a better defender next to him i think, is Okoli that player?

Bouba, Bilal and Winks superb, we need a winger or 2, and deffo a striker.

Partly agree. They were garbage. And had we a tiny bit of form and confidence, I think we'd have won. But we haven't.And didn't.
