Agree with blue tinted youtube channel JJ is better at LB, so an option would potentially to be to stick hamza there and give JJ some time at LB even if its just a late game sub, and see if he gets on better there.

I think he is a decent player, but just confidence issues and not his best side.

Change of month (and year), change of fortune. This match has all the makings of a surprise (to outsiders) City win and the start of a huge revival, which will see us move rapidly away from the danger zone, helped by a good run in the FA Cup. Even the pundits on MotD will spend a few moments analysing our performance, instead of focussing on the opposition, which is what normally happens. The green shoots of recovery were there for all to see against Manchester City, despite the result.

That’s the spirit!

El Khannouss is on fire

You know how we feel

Soumare is reborn

You know how we feel

We actually have a game plan

You know how we feel

It’s a new month

It’s a new year

It’s a new life

For us

And we’re feeling good

We’re feeling good…

Choudhury has been a very expensive waste of time throughout his entire career with the club but hey why not risk our PL survival by trying him at RB and moving an even worse player to LB, what have we go to lose?

We have three of the worst fullbacks in the PL (they’d still be shite in the Championship) and now you want to add a fourth? For me it’s time to spend and buy two proper defenders.

Didn't people used to say JJ was a better RB when he was playing LB. He's just not very good wherever he plays.

His best season was at lb. That was 4 years ago tho and we need to move on from him

We need to convert playing well into points. Villa are vulnerable, but still a good side. I think we can get something today, but we could easily switch off twice and get nothing. Who knows…

Disagree with the statement that we are a good side. In the Premier League we are a poor side. We have potential to be a good side but equally we have the potential to be utterly terrible....just hope we keep improving.

Here's hoping for a new year miracle, where we put in a good 90 minute performance AND win the game.

Yeah, I can't see it either. Must. Stay. Optimistic.

I didn’t say we were a good side! We’re absolutely not.

You just love to see the optimism. I wonder, is supporting a team in anything a bit like gambling?  Do all the same delusions apply?

Anyway, come on ya blue bastards. Let’s spill some claret. Get it.

Duran, Rogers and Torres all out for Villa. Obviously they're still heavy favourites but those absences could knock them out of their stride a bit.

Oh yes we’ve been brilliant recently 😂

Have to play Mavididi (even though he hasn’t been great), Bilal and Buonanotte to stand a chance. Big test of RvN’s cojones with the team selection. Unfortunately, I feel like we’ll be destroyed by Bailey today.

3-1.

Love the way this has got 6 👍. We are not Liverpool. How is it possible for our team to play shit  and win?

That is the challenge, we can't keep a clean sheet and give away goals for fun.  We are also not Liverpool who can smash teams to bits.
