This is so so dumb to me. We could be Vardyless and a championship team next summer and we’re letting go a proven championship goal scorer with still plenty of time and room to improve.

Yeh I don’t get it either.

Good chance we go down and he walks straight in to our squad and ready to go. Bizarre

£7.5m.

So 18months into 5 year deal means his current PSR value is around £5.25m.

I suspect that's the full price including add ons. The book price could be lower.

If selling him means we have more money to improve and potentially bring Premier League quality players in this window who'll help us stay up, we have to do it, in my opinion.

Typically shortsighted from the club if we sell. The decision about Cannon should be made once our fate this season is sealed.

Exactly. Sell in the summer if we are a Prem side or keep for a promotion push if we are relegated

He hardly had a kick for us last time we was in the Championship. We need to sell players more than we have done historically when we can make profit on them.

How do you know there'll be an option in the summer?

He's having a decent season, his stock will be higher by then if that form continues. He has more than one team already interested in him, why would you presume that interest would wane in the summer?

If we survive this season then we should consider selling. But if we drop then we have a seasoned Championship striker, with a solid season at that level under his belt, ready for a hard season. It'll be like a new signing.

We hold all the cards when it comes to Cannon, no need to pull the trigger now. Consider lighting a longer fuse and resist a knee jerk sale.

I can't see any Championship club paying more than we would get now. Clubs are pushing for promotion and are willing to push the boat out. Might not be as much interest in the summer.

Possibly, but it's not the only factor to consider. His value to us will be relative to our position come the end of the season, that's the point.

We can buy another striker if we get relegated. If we stay up, then we could end up just loaning him out again.

OK, let's just do that then.

We all love to bash the club at the minute but this appears to be one of the rare occasions they’re doing the right thing.

He’s an unknown quantity that may or may not turn out to be more than what he looks like now.  A bang average Championship striker.  If we’re going to stand any chance of staying up, we need reinforcements and that costs money.  We’ve been on the brink of PSR and if we do stay in the league (like we all want), we can’t afford to be subject of another breach and this kind of sale eases the worry.

If we do go down, he might be useful, but then again, he might not.  He’s certainly not shown anywhere near the kind of promise that would have us sounding the ‘keep at all costs’ alarm.

Too many times we keep players hanging around on the chance they might come good and then they enter the final year of their deal and get nothing.

To get £7m would be a good bit of business.

Exactly, sell him whilst he’s hot and scoring goals. You’ve got to think that Enzo knows a good player and he didn’t fancy him at all

He's got a book value of £4.5m, although weren't we supposedly offered up to £10m in the summer but Cannon didn't want to go on a permanent?

So for psr reasons, sell him for 7 and we have 2.5m in the book which we could use to sign some one on a 3/4 year deal giving us roughly the same we can spend on someone else?

So who exactly could we get for that sort of fee that’s prem standard…. Can’t make the math make sense on this one.

his value isn’t dropping , sell him in the summer when we know our fate.

But he's not a 'bang average championship striker'. Look at his age and his record and tell me how you come to that conclusion? He's quite clearly a good striker at that level who will only get better. He's definitely shown he will score goals at that level. £7m is giving us next to no profit in terms of PSR and we desperately need a striker what ever division we're in.

I don't disagree with your general logic, but I don't think Cannon is a great case.

His overall game isn’t up to standard.

Cut out losses and get him gone.

Depends if it means we can add some funds to his fee and bring in a striker who can help keep us up stay up it good business.

Especially if its someone who is willing to stay if we go down.

But the offers might not be there in the summer.

5 year deal means we could buy someone for £13m and be no worse off. Cannon is supposedly on quite decent wages too. I'd look to the value countries like Brazil/Argentina/Denmark/Japan/Belgium

Mainly because Vardy stayed mostly fit and Daka was next in the pecking order. Weird thing for me was why we took on the Eduard loan instead of the better option of Cannon.

Can't be that bad if we have so much Championship interest in him.
