Quite. Offer him a spot in the first team squad for next season. He shows up well it'll only increase his value to the big clubs interested. Worked well for Bellingham.

Read in the Sun that Man City are prepared to go to a tribunal to sign him. Modern football is truly disgusting. How can a club who have put years of work in a players development just lose them like that! Another rule that shouldn’t be allowed, what was the point in becoming a grade A academy if any good player you develop can be taken off of you before they have even kicked a ball for the first team!

We lost a talented player to Liverpool as well a year ago or so. 
now Monga too. 
makes it very difficult to have academies when clubs can come in and take players from you. As with most of the modern rules brought in. Current rules on this only favor the larger reputable clubs.

All these stories affirm what I was told by an ex player at the cup game a few weeks ago. He’s as good as gone.

 

We have a so called talent pipeline coming through at Seagrave. We have a crap first team. We need to use them or we will loose them.

Psr actually encourages clubs to go out and get the best young kids at 16/17.  It’s a business plan.  Those who are good enough can be sold on at 100% profit (see Man City and Chelsea over recent years) and those who are exceptional will get to the first team squad. Those who aren’t good enough will just be ‘chucked away’ and find their way to the lower leagues. 
 

we presumably do the same to championship and league 1 academies ??  It’s the food chain but PSR has made it worse cos the big six have realised how much money can be made from it.

Tribunals are set up wrong, this needs to be structured per achievements…. England cap… extra £5m… PL start… £3m… World Cup appearance …. £10m

 

then we might actually get what we deserve, right now we’ll will prob get £2/3m and that’s that! Sickening

Definitely something like this but this would only benefit teams like us and not teams further down the pyramid, so not to this extent. You'd never get youngsters go and sign for a L1/L2 club as even a championship/lower end PL team would never take a punt on them when you're getting into the £millions, so they would just reject the chance to join those academies/youth setups in hope for a bigger club. That then further reduces the money these clubs can make and would also lead to producing far fewer players of quality in the country.

If he doesn't go before the end of the season we need to play him, not even we can score less than 0 so there's nothing to lose. It'll boost supporters and might encourage him to see his future here. And give a kick up the arse to players when a 15 year-old is putting them on the bench.

I know people are upset about losing the guy to Liverpool and also possibly Monga to Man City… but  the tribunal settlement alone for each of these can mostly cover the  academy budget for the year so that’s helpful in times of need!

Of course, to get the tribunal fee, the tribunal actually has to take place. Aren't we still waiting for Nyoni's tribunal? Playing his second season of making first team appearances for them now...

People can blame the club all they want & thinking giving him a game will make him stay, haa... This will be down to him we can offer anything you want but end of the day most young lads will follow the big badge for the 'likes'.
Gone have the days of managers like Fergie saying to the young lads don't chase the money, chase the dream of being the best you can be & stay where you will play in order to make that happen..with the added The money will follow once you have achieved that dream.
He'll go to Man C, he'll get more than he would here but he's 15 so its not going to a great deal more, he certainly won't be turning out for Man C 1st team anytime soon especially after the season they have had.
All the big clubs will be spending just like that did after we won the league because they have all been shocking & a 15/16yr lad will not be jumping ahead of £80m+ established talent, he'll hang around being loan'd out & eventually sold for £20-30m to a middle sized club when he's 20 like all the others they have had.

It really would be in his best interest to stay put make his way into the 1st team getting games under him & that big move will happen, we know he won't stay but atleast he could be part way / or firmy established by 18-20yrs old & then that move could be completely different...but sadly we know what he will do & what those around him will be saying.

So we can’t spend and buy players due to PSR, and we can’t breed our own quality as they are poached by the big boys. Man they’ve really sewn it up now, and I for one cannot wait to get out of this corrupt league. The sooner they p**s off to a European super league the better.

Not particularly. Our model has been to play the long game and take advantage of us being the most successful midlands club over the last decade that's helped us recruit the best kids in the midlands from 8-9 upwards and we're finally starting to see the breadth of talent coming through.

 

We don't actively recruit 15-17 year olds that often, and those we do get seem to come from London clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Palace and quite possibly because those clubs are willing to release them vs us signing them and going to tribunal. 

 

The last players that fit this ilk I can remember is Ben Grist, Brad Young and Callum Hulme.
